Disappointing

I suspect I may be in the minority here but Scott's grass seed is their one product I'm disappointed in. The grass is more coarse and of a much lighter shade of green than the competition. I bought it once and will not again.

We are sorry to hear that you are disappointed with the appearance of your new grass. Different grasses and grass blends have different looks and develop fully at different rates. The appearance of the new grass will change as it matures which can take 1-2 years. The newly seeded areas may blend in later. You may want to discuss the appearance of different types of grass with a certified nursery person or lawn care professional before replanting.

Quickly filled the area completely with thick lush grass

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had an area approximately ten feet in diameter where there had formerly been a blue spruce tree. On September 29, 2015, I raked and removed the majority of the conifer needles, tilled the area, seeded with Scotts Turf Builder Sun And Shade Mix, mulched with straw, and immediately watered the spot. With minimal additional watering, just enough to keep the soil moist, the spot was completely covered with thick grass within four to six weeks. It is now January 9, 2016 and the spot has blended into the rest of the lawn to the point where you can not tell where it was once bare ground. I would definitely use this product again and recommend it to others.

Grows without water - almost none!!

I spread this on a few bare spots, one of them a large patch of dirt. I had to water frequently at first - but once it takes, it takes off and has grown wonderfully without water (no rain in weeks)!
Pros: Quality, Easy to Use, Effective
Cons: had to stay on top of it to get it started

Pros: Easy to Use, Effective, Good Directions, Value, Quality, water saver makes germination almost fool--proof

Scotts Sun and Shade Grass Seed is Great

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Scotts seed works great I have been using it for years it never lets me down. After winter I sprinkle the seed in bad spots top with a small amount of soil, keep moist and it always fill the spot. My lawn is looking great!
