I used the sun and shade mix around trees and washout area the product germinated in a timely manner within 7 days on looks great nice and green and thick.

Best seed I have ever used!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Last year a storm removed a trampoline that I placed a tarp under to eliminate grass and weeds. I had a 20 foot diameter bare spot in the lawn to seed. The amazing thing about this mix is that it grew and blended so well that you cannot tell there was ever a bare spot. it is beautiful!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had nothing but success using this seed! In a matter of 2 years, my yard went from a patchy mess to a lush green carpet! I've continued to oversead throughout the year with it and even dormant seed in winter with great success!!! I always use a bit of peat moss and potting soil in bare patches and have results fairly quickly with daily watering. I will continue to buy for years to come!!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Had spot that no matter what I did, not much grass grew.. .so I used scotts turf builder and with some care and tlc... the grass came in.. nice and full and now I dont even remember the spot.. The other products did not do a good job at all.. but Scotts was the best.. if you try to save.. when it comes to grass seed.. use scotts and you will be happy you did..

I have used Scotts Turf Builder Sun & Shade Mix for several years. As a result, my lawn has become thicker, virtually weed free, green and lush. I highly recommend this product for starting anew or maintaining an established lawn with pride in a job well done.
Pros: Quality, Effective, minimal watering when applying.

Spent alot of money on both scotts "Sun & Shade" mix and lawn food but still have the same Bawld spots in my back yard..
Cons: Didn't work as expected
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

It is certainly frustrating to go to the work of reseeding an area, only to have the results less than satisfactory. Undoubtedly you will be doing reseeding projects in the future, and we would like to give you a few tips that have been helpful to some of our consumers.
Temperature plays a critical role in seed germination. Soil temperatures must be at least 55 degrees Fahrenheit (13 degrees Celsius) for northern type turf grass seed to germinate (Bluegrass, ryegrass, fescue). Air temperature must typically be between 60 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit (15-26 degrees Celsius). Seeds will not germinate if the temperatures are cold at night, or are fluctuating from high day temperature to very low night time temperatures. Very hot weather will also inhibit seed germination.
It is also important not to use any herbicides that could affect seeds when trying to grow grass, as these products will also prevent or inhibit germination. When used on newly germinated lawns, herbicides will kill off the new grass.
