Purchased product to do some reseeding of my lawn

Product didn't perform as I expected. had to reseed lawn 3 times before seeing results.
before using this product I put down screened topsoil. Had the good fortune of putting down during a rainy week. Also utilized my in ground sprinklers. The only thing growing the first three weeks was my weeds. They were well watered. Came out side 2 days ago and FINALLY started seeing some growth after 4 weeks

We apologize that you have experienced problems while using Scotts Turf Builder Grass Seed Sun & Shade Mix. It is certainly frustrating to go through all the work of reseeding an area, only to have the results less than satisfactory. Undoubtedly you will be doing reseeding projects in the future, and we just want to give you a few tips that have been helpful to some of our consumers. While adding a layer of topsoil is recommended, adding more than 1/4 inch can smother seed. Temperatures play a large factor in how seed germinates, and this particular seed requires soil temperatures of at least 55 degrees Fahrenheit. If temperatures are cold at night or if temperatures fluctuate from high to low, this can inhibit germination.

In the spring of 2014, we pulled out a very large area of ivy. We then used fertilizer and Scotts Turf Builder Sun & Shade Mix. It was so easy to see if you missed an area, as the seed is blue. We now have a beautiful thick lawn where the ivy was.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I know that this may seem silly but I like that I could see where I had spread the seed. Spread this seed in places that had winter damage...some were under trees and other where it will get nothing but direct sun. Nice to have one seed that works both places. Starting to spout, which is always exciting to see. I expect in another week or two to see nice patches of grass once again growing in these spots. Because it is appropriate for Sun or Shade it seems to have been OK without the constant watering that you sometimes need to do with new seed.
