Tough Area to Grow Grass

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Our water department dug a good size hole in our yard when replacing water main and taps. They filled with topsoil and grass seed. Well very little of the seed came up so I used Thick'R Lawn.
A few weeks later, grass is up and nice looking than the rest of the lawn. Guess I will overseed the whole lawn this Fall with Thick'R Lawn.

Crabgrass seed plus fertilizer? Anyone else?

My lawn greened, sure. Grass came in, sure. It was a bit thinner than expected, even though I used the appropriate setting on my Scott's rotary spreader. But then, so did the crabgrass. Lots of it. Ick. The crabgrass wasn't there last year, so, Scotts? Probably the reason. I'm not sure what to do about a seed product to prevent crabgrass from growing, when a pre-emergent would also keep the desired seed from growing. Not a clear listing of the grass seed in their product, so care going forward could be problematic also. Lots of products for weed treatment require a knowledge of which grass makes up the lawn, so Scott's could be more upfront with their product. I guess it was my mistake for buying it, right? Well, it won't happen again.

super spotty and a TON of weeds!

Last fall, we removed a deck to add more greenspace to our lawn. We purchased this to seed in the fall (with proper watering), and allow for winter to do it's work. I now have the patchiest lawn I've ever seen! A few spots grew in, but certainly not "Thick'R" nor the advertised 50% thicker lawns. In addition, there are a number of weed (which happens) and a lot of crabgrass, as mentioned by another reviewer. I'm beyond disappointed in this product.

Did nothing!

I bought this product 4 weeks ago. I live in the Mid-Atlantic region, so the weather was perfect. So far, the only thing I accomplished was to raise my water bill. The product did nothing at all. I have used Scotts products before and was very satisfied.

Terrible product flow for SummerGuard fertilizer

I just got finish applying Turf Builder Summerguard Lawn food with a Scotts speedy green 3000. First thing I noticed was how large the particles were. When I used the suggested setting of 3 3/4 hardly anything came out. I gradually increased to a 9 setting which I have never used. I have been putting scott's fertilizer on the same lawn for 25 years, four times a year. This time, even at a 9 setting I have fertilizer left over. The product simply did not flow very well. I kept have to "shake" the dispenser to get product to flow.
