Scott’s 3-in-1
on July 14, 2024

I applied this product in fresh new top soil and kept it moist per the instructions. After 3 weeks the only growth is a group of mushrooms. Very poor product with no potential for success! Save your money and time!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After I applied this product in early September and the weather was perfect with warn days, cool nights and light rain. I seen some bare spots fill in with grass in 7 to 10 days. Outstanding results in a short period of time. I'll definitely use this product next year and expect my lawn to become even thicker...Thank you for the great product!!!
Pros: Effective, Quality, Value

Better than advertised

My lawn was awful being cared for by lawn care company. I applied spring 2028, fall 2018 and spring 2019. I can't believe it. It is beautiful. Only spot sprayed dandelions occasionally. No other treatments. I will only use Thicker Lawn once or twice a year. Thank you Scotts!.

Not one blade of grass

I was hoping that this would solve my grass problems. All it did was waste my time, and deplete my wallet. I followed the instructions, and made sure it was properly watered, but not one blade of new grass grew. I spread the seed over my entire lawn, good areas, spotty areas, and areas where I haven't been able to get grass to grow. It didn't help in any of them. If there was an option to give this "0" stars, I would. Last year I tried the Smart Seed, that gave me more weeds than grass, I will not be buying any more Scotts Seed products.
Cons: Didn't work as expected, didn't work at all, more costly than the others for no benefit
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We apologize for the issues you have encountered with your Thick'r Lawn Sun and Shade Mix. This grass seed requires temperatures that are regularly above 65 degrees. Lower temperatures, fluctuating temperatures, or night temperatures below 40 will slow germination. We want you to be confident in our products, this is why we offer a product guarantee. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My husband used this product on our lawn and was pleased with the coverage and ability to make our lawn grown thicker and healthier. The product was easy to apply, and we were happy that it worked so well in our almost entirely sunny lawn.

Waste of money and time!

I purchased a 40 lb bag, spread fresh, screened top soil, used this product as directed, and covered all areas lightly with straw. One minth later, NOTHING HAS GROWN! DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY AND TIME!

We're sorry to read about your disappointment with Scotts Turf Builder Thick'R Lawn Sun & Shade and appreciate your feedback.
Prior to seeding, we recommend mowing grass short and rake or de-thatch the area to remove dead grass and loosen exposed soil. This Grass Seed will germinate best when temperatures are consistently in the 65-80 degree F range. Both excessive moisture and not enough moisture can inhibit seed germination. Weed control used prior to seeding will prevent seed from germinating. Do not apply a weed control that is registered for lawn use to new grass until it has been cut at least 3-4 times.
We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee to our consumers. At your earliest convenience, please reach out to us at 888-270-3714 if we can further assist.

Wow...That's MY Yard!
on June 4, 2019

I live in Minnesota and this past winter was very rough on my yard. There were patches that had grass last year but didn't this spring. Having read the positive reviews, I decided to go for it. About a month ago, I bought 2 bags knowing that were were going to get plenty of rain. Starting with one bag, I raked the worst areas first, used the thick'r lawn, then covered with soil from my garden. I spread the rest of the same bag onto other unraked areas. About a week later, I covered the same areas of my year again and watered. Watering is the key. My yard looks amazing and I was thinking, "Wow, that's MY yard!". This really works.
