Works fast

We applied this to some bald patches in our front and backyard about two weeks ago (spring time here). Within a week, we could see the start of some new grass growing. Within two weeks, the new grass is now a good four inches tall or so. The grass is filling in quite nicely.

Stuff is legend!

Put this down in the spring on a weak lawn that has lots of hard pan (clay) soil. Aerated it first and then spread it with Scott’s Rotary on 9. I have inground irritation system so watering was easy. But I think it’s key as I tried year before with mediocre results (didn’t use irrigation as regularly). I did another application in mid September and the lawn looks great!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Spread a package of this on some bare areas in late fall. It was too late in the season for germination so I installed and covered with wheat straw for dormant seeding in the spring. Seed looks great. Looking forward to the spring green-up.

Disappointing Scott’s Product//results

In the past, I have been known for maintaining a nice lawn which I proudly gave credit to the love of labor ( not hiring a lawn service) and they eats of using Scott’s products! In 2020, after the drought conditions! I invested in Scott’s Thick R Lawn seed. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT ! Recently, neighbors stop to offer their sympathy, shaking their heads in disbelief as they have witnessed the labor of love and cost that has been involved yet I have an unsightly yard! I am beyond disappointed and am leery to stay dedicated to Scott’s as this one failed product has filled my yard with tenacious tall fescue and will take an enormous amount of time and effect to try to remedy!

Wasted time and money

Aeration, thatched, 2 bags of thicker lawn overseed product application April 17.April 29 no results despite watering diligently and weather in high 70s.

Thick'n has been very disappointing

Bought and applied Thick'n in front yard in late April. Followed directions on bag.
The seed NEVER germinated. On May 5 I put some topsoil in a small pot and
added some Thick'n. I placed the pot in the sun and watered it twice daily. This
seed also NEVER germinated and it is now May 25.

For this seed mix, which contains tall fescue, ryegrass, and kentucky bluegrass soil temperatures must be at least 55 degrees F for Grass Seed to germinate. This Grass Seed will germinate best when temperatures are consistently in the 65-80 degree F range. You should start seeing germination in 6-14 days under ideal growing conditions. Will take about a month for all the seed to germinate. Germination time is based on ideal conditions of soil warmth and a constant amount of moisture.

It worked okay

I was expecting my lawn to be super lush with this product. This year I followed all the steps to make it happen, my lawn looks good with the exception that I’m seeing clover growing in my lawn. Any recommendations?

It is normal to have some weeds germinate when seeding. There are approximately 10,000 weed seeds per 1 cubit foot of native soil and soil preparation brings weed seeds to the surface. All Scotts seed is thoroughly cleaned and is 99.9% weed free. Our grass seed is harvested in June/July, well before the time of crabgrass maturity which occurs during late summer when it sets sees so it isn't possible for our crop to be contaminated with crabgrass seed. Soil amendments such as manure and straw often contain weed seeds and they can also be blown or carried into the area prior to grass seed becoming established.
