This stick blender does not blend vegetable leaves or fruit skins very well. The skin and leaves get stuck in the holes on the side and are near impossible to get out without having your hand near the blade. My previous Cuisinart stick blender did not have this issue, I suspect it's the angle of the blade. The angle of the blade is tilted instead of flat which pushes the vegetable skin to get caught in the holes of the side. Other than that it does the job.

Even though this Cuisinart is rated at 300 Watts, I do not think it is as efficient as the previous hand blender (HB-154) I used for over 15 years. Only reasons I bought a new hand blender is the motor on the chopper/grinder blew out because I overworked the chopper motor. Otherwise, I would not have upgraded to a 300W blender. I understand that the CSB-179 has safety features added, but it is rather cumbersome to hold 2 buttons at the same time to activate the motor. I find the blades to the stick do not do as good a job when blending eggs as the previous model. Well, anyway I guess one has to accept changes.

This blender is a replacement for my previous Cuisinart Smart Stick blender that I used and loved for years. It had recently stopped working, but I was happy with how long it lasted - I used it a lot! This new model is great - I like that it has variable speeds and appreciate the new safety locking mechanism. The attachments are super handy and make this a really versatile kitchen tool.
