Easy to use and store

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The spreader is easy to use. Only issue I had with it, sometimes the spreader wheel would get clogged and I would have to clean it out. Typical maintenance/ upkeep.

Spreader needs to be calibrated.

Always used and Scott drop spreader and always had to calibrate them. Just purchased one recently and looked for the orange tage the said I had to calibrate the spreader and directions on how to perform this task. There was any info on the product suggesting that I need to calibrate. I set the proper setting and it took 20,000 sq. ft of step 2 when normally 10,000 square ft. will cover my lawn. When I was going through the first 5,000 ft I stopped and grabbed the sticker that came on the spreader and checked for any calibration info and found none. Judging by the other reviews I have read the spreader aren't being calibrated at the factory. Normally I read the reviews but I didn't this time because I have had sussess with product in the past. I wished I had taken time to read the reviews. Quite disappointed.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

It doesn't come with a ratio chart.

Remember to calibrate your spreader. A little pricey but still does the job. Too bad it doesn't come with a ratio chart to tell you how product to use on each setting. Overall descent product.
Pros: Easy to Use
Cons: Messy, Didn't work as expected, Problem with label

Would use no other and only with my Scott fertilizers.

Calibration defective-burned lawn

After 22 years, my trusty Scott's drop spreader finally gave out. I raced the hardware store to buy a new one. The plastic bin is fine, but the flimsy cable control and adjustment mechanism either come uncalibrated or there is poor quality control. It used 3 to 4 times the fertilzer and burned the lawn. I'll stick with Scott's chemicals but look elsewhere for hardware. Given the number of similar complaints, a recall is in order.

Cons: Didn't work as expected, not correctly adjusted

Pros: Easy to Use, Effective, Good Directions, easy to clean
