spreader best investment ever!

I hesitated spending money on a spreader, but this one is so easy to use. It fits one bag of product perfectly, and the edge setting makes it easy to keep the product from going into the driveway or street. I covered our lawn in minutes with this spreader. And the Scott's products' instructions on the bag clearly stated what setting to use on the spreader. It made learning how to care for my lawn so easy!
Pros: Quality, Easy to Use, Good Directions

Not calibrated correctly

Overall, the product seems to be well made for the price. The most important part of the spreader, the flow setting, doesn't seem to be calibrated to match the Scott's lawn care products. I just used it this morning on setting 3, which is the stated setting for the Turf Builder product I am using. I went through a complete 5000 sf bag over a yard section that is no more than 2000 sf. This with an overlap patter of at least 5 ft and walking briskly. I dropped to the lowest setting (2) for the rest of the yard, but the fertilizer still seemed to pour out of the bottom. The opening does differ when changing the setting, so it seems to be 'working'. The flow rate is just to heavy. Will not use it again.

Cons: Didn't work as expected
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Uneven spread

About 75% of the product comes out the left side, while only 25% comes out the right side leaving my lawn with all kinds of lines from fertilizing. Edge guard isn't engaged while it does this.
Pros: Good Directions
Cons: Didn't work as expected

We're sorry to hear you've had this problem. This is not a typical problem. Check to make sure that the shutoff plate inside the hopper is working correctly and the the rotor plate is also working correctly. It could also be caused by too fast of a walking pace or holding the spreader at an angle. Make sure not to tip the spreader when walking and walk at a pace of 20 feet every 5 seconds. Decent spreader for the price

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Works as advertised. Easy to dial in the correct spread rate. Handle folds in for compact storage. I've had this for a few years and use 1-2 times each spring, summer and fall so it gets a good amount of use. Need to clean it out on occasion otherwise it jams up. Other than that it's pretty fool proof and sturdy.

What a joy to operate this unit. Perfect for the small yard. The way it puts out the correct amount of Turf Builder is great. Yard never looked so good.

Spindle broke

The plastic spindle sheared off after only a couple of uses.

easy to use, small but easy

i enjoy my little mini for using here at home, my yard is very flat so it works great, i used it at a friends with a bit of a slope and was a little iffy, but all in all a great little spreader
Pros: Value, Quality, Easy to Use, Good Directions, Effective, light
Cons: just a little unbalanced for a slope
