I wad using the handheld spreader before but this one is by far the best I have used. No complaints here!!

Cheap plastic parts, did not last even one season

This is the second one (Edgeguard mini) that broke after three uses. Both times it is the same part. The connector between the spreader plate below the bowl and the stirrer in the bowl. It is a cheap plastic connector. My required use is not heavy duty. The lawn area is quarter acre. All I do is spread is fertilizer 4 times a year and lime twice a year. After two breakdowns in one year, I bought a different brand (Statesman from Southern States CoOp). The one I had before I bought the Scotts Spreaders (Republic brand) lasted more than 10 years. Except I cannot find that anymore to buy.
Pros: Easy to Use
Cons: cheap construction materials
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Different spreading rates

The edge guard feature works great. My problem with the spreader is the application rate is not consistant. I set it on 6 and it put out 8 pounds per 1000 square feet. The next time with a different fertilizer I set it on 3 and it put out 1.3 pounds per 1000 square feet. That was about 1/2 of what I want to put on so I left the setting the same and this time it put out 1.8 pounds per 1000 square feet.
Pros: Value, Easy to Use, Good Directions
Cons: spreading rate not consistant

Easy and cost savings

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used to think that spreading the seeds and fertilizer was only for the professional services. But now that I have my own spreader I can see how was and cost savings it could be. I plan on doing this myself going forward.

Quality made spreader

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This spreader was easy to put together, just pull up the handle and tighten the bolts. Put your weed and feed or insect granules in the hopper then turn the aperture wheel to the proper serting then spread on the grass while pulling the handle trigger, Very easy to use and clean too !

Great new spreader

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Just used my new spreader to put down some lime on my lawn. This will replace my older Scotts spreader (about 11 years old). This one has bigger wheels so it is a lot easier to maneuver and disperses the product at a much more even rate. The agitator I had in my old spreader was thin metal, this one has a thicker plastic so it can get through the product easier. Also loving the adjustable edgegaurd. Now I don't have to waste product that goes on the sidewalk or in places that I want to avoid....great feature.
