Easy to use and clean

This spreader works great. I had to replace my old spreader and found this one to be the right size for a typical suburban lawn. It was cost effective and it is easy to change the setting using the easy to read dial. I also like the Edge Guard feature as it reduces the amount of waste on sidewalks and driveways. It seems like I don't use as much fertilizer with this spreader compared to my old one, but I still get great results on my lawn.
Pros: Quality, Easy to Use, Effective

Difficult to find proper spreader settings

Rarely do you ever find the setting for the spreader on different types of lawn products. Even if you try to look up the UPC code that has to be a Scotts product. If it's not a Scotts product it won't find a result.
Pros: none
Cons: Difficult to use, Didn't work as expected, Problem with label, difficult with spreader settings

We are sorry that you are inconvenienced because we don't have a spreader setting for your Turf Builder EdgeGuard Mini Broadcast Spreader. Unfortunately, there is no cross reference or formula for spreader settings. We provide settings for our consumer spreaders on the bags of all of our consumer products. However, there is no way that we can test all of the spreaders on the market place with all of our products or all competitive products with our Scotts spreaders.
The only alternative we can provide is to recommend that you apply a test area to determine the best setting for your spreader with this product. Empty the number of pounds the manufacturer recommends for a 1000 square feet into the spreader. Adjust the spreader to a very low setting (approximately 1/4 to 1/3 open) and spread the material over a 1000 square foot area (50 x 20, 33 x 30, etc.) If you run out of material before you cover the test area, adjust the setting a notch lower; if you still have material in your hopper when you reach the end of the test area, adjust the setting a notch higher. This will give you the best setting for that particular product. Remember: it is safer to underapply with the test and increase setting later as needed. Some fertilizers can burn your lawn.

Perfect size for a subdivision house and small to store

Filled it twice on a 11,000sq ft lot. So much easier and faster than a hand spreader and smaller and lighter to store than the full size machines. I'll hold off on quality and durability. Only used it once.

Best tool for spreading anything on lawn

We bought our first house and need to work on our grass, bought Scotts weed and feed and also the mini spreader. Best tool to have when you need to spread on grass. Easy to use and no clean up after. Prefect size. I would definitely recommend this product!

Real nice spreader

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’m in the landscape industry and we use heavy duty spreaders regularly. This spreader is great for homeowners but not sturdy enough for use at work. That being said , this is one cool spreader. I like the easy to use setting dial. Couldn’t be easier to use. I also like the edge guard. I haven’t had any snow yet but tried it with spreading sand. I set the edge guard to stop the sand from going into my mulch beds and it worked real good. I can only imagine it will do the same with ice melting products as well. I also tried it out spreading grass seed and it did prevent most of the seed from getting into the mulch but not all. This seems to be a great spreader and real nice quality for residential homeowner use.
