cannot be recalibrated

This product works well, but cannot be recalibrated. Why is beyond me. I used mine lightly, no abuse. For reasons unknown, it began dispensing less than the correct amount. It can be checked for calibration, but not adjusted to recalibrate.
Cons: cannot be recalibrated
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We are glad to hear that the spreader works well; however, we are sorry to hear about the calibration. This spreader is calibrated at the factory, so it cannot be calibrated and shouldn't need to be. Easy to use Spreader

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This spreader is easy to use and lightweight. It may be a mini spreader but it holds up to 5,000 sq. ft. of Scotts lawn products. I like the edge guard to keep the seed or fertilizer off the driveway. It's also great with the dial to adjust the amount of feed that comes out of the spreader. The higher the number, the larger the opening to allow more to spread. With just a squeeze of the handle, it opens the door to spread your lawn. I am very pleased with this spreader, as I am with all Scotts products.
Pros: Easy to Use, Effective, Good Directions, Quality, Value

Cannot control nor calibrate spreader coverage

This spreader spreads too heavily per the recommended settings, and there is no means for calibrating it. Normally I use this spreader for edges and then use my larger Scotts Speedy Green 3000 for the entire yard. This spring I used it for a large section of the lawn but discovered that is was spreading too heavily and unevenly. Even after setting it at HALF the recommended rate it still spread too heavily. As a result my lawn incurred some burning in large areas and severe burning in many spots.
I would like to return this spreader but unfortunately did not save my receipt.

The best way to help minimize the damage to the treated areas is to water the lawn 2 to 3 times each week for the next 3 to 4 weeks, for 30 to 45 minutes each time. Works great

The spreader I bought is black and made with recycled plastic which is the exact same as pictured. The spreader works like it is suppose to dial is easy to read and use. The edge guard feature is nice.

Great for annual feeding and weeding treatments

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Just the right size for medium lawns, this broadcast spreader does the job. The EDGE GUARD feature is a time save as I no longer have to worry about overcast on walks and driveways.

I bought this after using a drop spreader. Then moved on to the snap which is good but not very cost effective. I broke down and got my 3rd spreader. I've used it once so far and it worked like a charm.

Broke after 3rd use

Thought it was great product until I was 3 passes into 3rd application of fertilizer and the spreader piece snapped on the bottom.
It did work well while it wasn't broken, but I expected this product to last a least a full year and hopefully more than that. To break after only 2.5 uses is disappointing.
I will look for other products before going with Scotts again.
Cons: Didn't work as expected, broke
