[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I just received my mini broadcast spreader in time to apply winterize fertilizer. Its just the right size for my lawn, It works great. the settings are easy to adjust. I am amazed with It. just love it. can't wait to see whats next..Keep up the good work Scotts.

Used 3 times and plastic parts melted from friction

I have approx. 1 acre. I bought this 2 years ago and have used it 4 times. This last time the spreader suddenly dropped out of the bottom.
When I inspected it, I found the shaft and everything else was plastic. The friction had caused significant wear to all the pieces and finally melted the main shaft in two. I paid $40 at home depot. I just found a much larger, better built product at Farm and Fleet for $44. It has metal components along with pneumatic tires.
I would not recommend this product.

Great spreader for a 5000sq ft yard

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was a replacement for my 15 year old Scotts Spreader. What a great job Scotts did with the upgrades on this model. First the spreader was shipped right to my door and the handle folds up conveniently. The next thing I noticed was the drop amount adjuster was So Easy to operate and the spring handle that closes as you let go, No more remembering to push the button to stop the flow. Finally since I received this in the Fall I applied the Scotts Turf Builder WinterGuard. The Edge Guard addition was especially nice around our inground pool and was surprised how nothing remained in the hopper the design funnels everything to the opening.
Pros: Easy to Use, great design

Can only be used with Scotts products

The spreader setting only applies to Scotts products. Scotts will not tell you what setting produces how many pounds per square foot. The settings only correspond to Scotts seeds, fertilizers, etc. They should put that limitation on the device "Only to be used with Scotts products".
Cons: Difficult to use
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

They are based on the size of the product. While we typically do not have settings for other brand products, we do have a test you can perform to determine a setting. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This broadcast spreader works vert well ! It has large wheels that make it easy to push around ., spreads whatever you put in it nicely ! The dial that regulates how much is spread is easy to use as well !

Replacement for older Scotts spreader

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've used the same Scott's drop spreader since 1962. I was going to fix and continue to use it until my gardener told me about this one. Faster and more even. Stores better in garage and won't rust!
