[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love it and what I like about it is the size not too small and not too big it is perfect for my lawn size. and easy to push. Few of my neighbors asked me where I got it from. Thank you so much for sending it to me and for sure I will put to use.

Good, could be better

I like having more control of how much fertilizer, too expensive to use too much. I saw in the comments the previous version had metal impeller, which would be nice upgrade. Probably not good idea to use for other lawn products like Ironite or pelletized lime, I’ll keep old broadcast spreader for those jobs.

No information how to properly use this product.

The mini spreader is not listed on my product label. The mini spreader itself says to see mini spreader settings on www.scotts.com. As many others have stated here, the settings are no where to be found. Both products are scott’s products(triple action turf builder and the mini spreader). I bought 12,000sqft of product for a 16,000sqft yard without intending to cover the entire yard, I still have half left over. Do better…

Sorry to read of your concern. On the back of the Scotts Turf Builder Triple Action there is a listing for broadcast spreaders. That is the setting you would use, as the Mini is a broadcast spreader. Thank you for your feedback. If there is anything we can do to help you have a 5-star experience, please contact our Consumer Services team at 888-270-3714 for assistance.

Okay for small areas

Purchased one of these this morning with the intent of using it to spread some powdered lime on a very small area of my lawn. I had only barely acceptable results. I suspect that might be because it is designed for pelletized products versus powdered. Keep that in mind if you decide to get this product. Also, there is a small piece of 'wire' hanging from the back of the hopper and I've no clue as to what it is for. No instructions available to enlighten me.

Doesn't spread evenly, doesn't spread the right amount

I was spreading fertilizer last fall and had streaks of burnt grass because this spreader hadn't spread it evenly and had dumped heavily in areas. Even though I had it on the proper setting. Also this spring, I used scotts grass seed in it at the recommended setting and it also dumped the grass seed unevenly. So that I had to rake it out. I also believe that it spread the seed too heavily, because the bag of grass that was supposed to have covered over 1000 square feet only covered about 3/4 of 750 sqft. So I had to spend more on grass seed than I should have. I only hope that it didn't cause any major over seeding and cause my seedlings to die out from competition.
Pros: Easy to Use
Cons: Didn't work as expected, spreads unevenly, doesn't spread accurately according to directions
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We apologize for the inconvenience that you have experienced with your Scotts spreader. We appreciate you letting us know, and we have alerted. It is through feedback from consumers such as you, Ms. Keeney, that we can continue to maintain the high quality products that Scotts consumers have come to expect.
We are also sorry that you did not get the proper coverage from your bag of grass seed and lawn food. The spreader setting you used was correct. There are a few things that can affect the flow rate.
-Have you recently checked the calibration on your spreader? Some spreaders can go out of calibration over time and should be checked periodically. You can check it for accuracy by setting the spreader to "4", then with the control lever pressed, you should be able to snuggly fit a 9/32" drill bit into the lower left corner of the opening inside the hopper. If this is off, you may need to inspect it for any broken parts. If you find broken parts, please let us know, we may be able to replace them
-Did you overlap properly? With broadcast spreaders, you want to overlap about 1 foot on each swath. Each pass should be around 4 feet apart. If you are not moving over enough between each pass an over appliation will occur. Based on your description of the issues you have encountered this would seem a probable culprit.
-Were you walking faster or slower than usual? Your walking pace will affect the rate of application.
We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee to our consumers. At your earliest convenience please contact us to see what can be done. You may visit our contact page by clicking on the following link http://tinyurl.com/7ag7a3n

Perfect size!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received my Scotts Turf Builder Mini Spreader in late November. It came just in time for the last lawn feeding of the season. I have always used a drop spreader and although I am an experienced gardener I have a lousy eye for spreading fertilizer. I was always making lines. I knew that a broadcast spreader would help to prevent that but they were always to large for my smaller lawn which has lots of flower and vegetable beds. Then out of the blue, a mini broadcast spreader arrived at my door and I fell in love. It's the perfect size and allows me to feed and treat my lawn without products falling into my beds. It has proven to be the perfect product for me and works great with Scotts natural lawn food as well as many of their other products. Well done Scotts!
Pros: Easy to Use, Effective, Good Directions, Quality, Value
