Just purchased Scotts Classic Drop Spreader. Discovered the setting changed while applying fertilizer; the dial would rotate and not stay on the setting. Then discovered fertilizer granulates got trapped between the slider plate and the feed slots, so fertilizer kept running out when I pushed the spreader over stones & concrete from my back yard to my front yard.gtx68

Great customer service

I've had my Scott's Drop Spreader for 6 or 7 years and the calibration was off and spreading too much product even after I constantly recalibrated it. I contacted Scott's and they said no problem and sent me a refund so I could buy another spreader. Not only does Scott's make great products their customer service is top notch as well.

Disappointed in the spreader

This spreader is not like previous versions of Scott’s drop spreader. Previously I used an entire 5,000 sq ft bag of each step of Scott’s fertilizer in its entirety with my old spreader. Now, with going by the same recommendation, barely a half of bag is used on the same area…barely any fertilizer is dropping. I am thoroughly disappointed with my new spreader and will be looking for another brand!

I bought this Scotts Drop Spreader about 6 weeks ago and tried to use it yesterday for the first time to no avail. I calibrated it as per Scotts instructions, yet once I loaded it up with Scotts Winterizer fertilizer, the right wheel would not turn. I emptied it to check for any lumps but there were none. So this drop spreader works fine with nothing in the hopper but put Scotts fertilizer in the hopper and it fails miserably!

Drops granules without pulling trigger handle

I bought this spread awhile back and just now used it for the first time. Seems solid but the issue I have is fertilizer drops out constantly regardless if I'm pulling the trigger handle or not. Come to find out the release bar on the bottom of the spreader has a gap between it and the bottom allowing granuals to drop out all the time. I see no adjustments for this and can't think of a way to rig it to fill that gap. Disappointed as I've had good luck with scotts products in the past.

We bought our drop spreader over 30 years ago, it's just starting to act up a little so we are looking to buy a new one. If you want something to last... buy Scotts!

Purchased specifically for applying Scott’s products that require applying to wet grass and having control around landscape beds. Mowed lawn with Honda mower set at next to shortest height setting and attempted application utilizing early morning dew to wet grass. Wet grass dragging along bottom of spreader causes openings to plug and clog and stopping product application. What is Scott’s thinking? I am going to try to salvage this spreader by increasing the wheel diameter. Do not purchase this spreader for applying products to wet grass. I would return it excepti ordered online during COVID-19 pandemic and is more trouble than it’s worth. I would like a Scott’s response to this post.
