Bought this to replace my previous accurate 1000 which served me while over the years. I put down fertilizer and seed already and very happy with its performance. I used the bag rate, which assuming was the same for all scott’s drop spreaders. Was I correct?

Poor performance

I just bought a scotts drop spreader for the first time to put down grass seed. Have always used a rotary type. The right wheel that turns the mixer kept dragging. I had to force it and use a small amount of seed each time. Planning to return this one.

No guide to what setting to use.

One the spreader, it says to look at the website to get the settings to be used.
There is no such information on the website.
I have looked at a handful of the reviews and many are complaining about the same thing.
Otherwise, the spreader worked fine. But there needs to be instructions!

Perfect

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have a normal residential lot in florida and this spreader was easy to use and quickly got the yard done. It holds more than a 5,000 sqft bag but not quite a 10,000 sq ft bag. The edge guard was fantastic and i wish i had it a long time ago.

I expected better

We recently had some grading work done on our property and needed to quickly seed and straw the ground. We purchased a drop spreader to help with the job and brought it home to find out there was a part missing. We returned it to the store and got a replacement-no big deal, things happen. When we brought home the replacement, the wheel is seized and won't allow us to spread any of the seed. We wasted time and money.

Absolute junk. I've always used Scott's products. This was to replace an older spreader that finally rusted away. I now have an unsightly checkerboard pattern on my lawn.
