Why are there no settings like lb/acre?

I bought this a couple of years ago and it works fine but there are no settings on it so if the bag does not tell what setting to put it on for the product it is worse than guess work. No idea what to set it on for non Scott products or others that do not specifically list Scotss Mini on the bag.

Worked fine the first time pulled it out to do another section of lawn. It refuses to drop product. I emptied it refilled with a lesser amount incase I had over filled. The axel is turning so I assume the problem is in the release trigger. Is there a way to test this.

Doesn’t do the job.

I have been using Scotts fertilizer and weed control products for years. I bought the mini last fall to replace a 40 year old Ortho broadcast spreader. I was tired of calculating the Ortho’s setting every time I used a Scotts product and I thought the edge guard was a good idea and it was a Scotts product. I have now used the mini twice and am very disappointed in it. I found it stopped spreading after one trip around the yard and was inconsistent in the amount being spread when it did work. I don’t think the agitator is designed properly to the job and can’t break up even small clumps of fertilizer. I am back to using my 40 year old Ortho.

Ruined Yard

Dripped fertilizer down the middle and now my yard is ruined. We had showings of our house this past weekend and the only complaint from the potential buyers was the yard.

Liked product while it worked!

I used this spreader about 10 times and the bottom part that distributes the fertilizer fell off. Looks like a plastic spindle causes this part to turn broke. JUNK!!!

Fertilzer spreads into wheels and uneven spread

After buying the mini spreader and the 4 step scotts bags, I began to spread the crabgrass preventer and after I was done the wheels had fertilizer inside of them. The actual spinner is below the wheels so a lot of the fertilizer just hits the inside of the wheels and falls straight down. That seems like a design flaw. I really had high hopes for this spreader. I can't say that it spreads evenly as well.
Pros: Easy to Use
Cons: Didn't work as expected
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Terrible Spreader

I previous had an AccuGreen 2000 and it was great. First time using this, the right wheel wouldn't turn and the spreader holes clogged. I only made it through 1000 sq ft. This is going back.

Do not buy!

My yard looks like a checkered board because of this spreader. The picture doesn’t do it justice of how horrible the lines are.
