What happened?

Spreader was fine for two years, then it dumped almost 5000 sq ft of Scott's fertilizer in about 1000 ft. at the recommended setting. Stored in the garage, kept clean, not loaned to anyone, made no adjustments myself. The only variable was that I tried the Scott's Max once which completely gummed it up--all under ideal weather and recommended conditions. My previous Scott's spreader lasted over 15 years. What happened?
Pros: i would think plastic would last longer than metal
Cons: Problem with label, worked fine-- then didn't
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

It is difficult to say what happened after the fact, but if the spreader has always performed until now the first thing to check is the calibration. Set the spreader to six and verify that the calibration lines match when you depress the handle. If they do not, there is a calibration screw that can be adjusted. If you need assistance with the process of calibration, contact us and we can provide you with detailed help.

For the money, a great buy.
Also, better than broadcast or rotary spreaders to avoid burning lawn.
Durable.
Pros: Value, Quality, Easy to Use, Good Directions, Effective

I love the drop seed spreader. My first one lasted 20+ years and is still going strong. Now I am on the "new generation" spreader. Don't have to guess where the herbicide/insecticide fell, because you are right on track each and every time.
Pros: Value, Quality, Easy to Use
I would recommend this to a friend!

Works Great, Minor Durability Issue

It's easy to use and maintain. No corrosion issues like other brands of spreaders I've owned. The plastic Lever Handle that controls dispensing the Fertilizer broke after 2 years, so I just modified using a long Bolt at a right angle to the original as a Handle. A beefier Handle design or even a quick bolt-on replacement would be appreciated and move my rating to 5 stars.
Pros: Easy to Use, Effective
Cons: lever handle broke

Hindsight on product application

Sure wish that I had read the reviews of this drop spreader prior to applying Scott's fertilizer. Like so many of the reviewers I went through a 5000sqft bag in about 900sqft. Calibration is spot on, but product flows through way too fast. Hope to heck my nice new lawn doesn't burn.
Pros: Easy to Use
Cons: Didn't work as expected, application rate doesn't match micrometer settings
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
