MY old Speader was on it's last leg. This little does a good job, now if only the stuff it spred would killlk the weeds I be a happy camper but so far the dandelions or going strong and the grass is green

bad design
on September 14, 2021

I've been using this spreader for a few years. It's a terrible design. I would not buy another. Scott thinks it's saving money by using less plastic to make the wheels. The wheels are open on the inside. They collect fertilizer which drop off and leave streaks of burnt out grass. Very frustrating. I bought because of Scott's reputation. What a mistake.

Done with Scotts.

Shame on Scotts. They could easily help customers by providing info to help customers understand the dial settings with lb/sqft. They do not as they think they can lock customers into their "proprietary settings". I'm done with all Scotts products

Horrible spreader! Buy a better brand!
on May 5, 2024

Will be returning Scotts Edgeguard Mini Spreader for a better brand! Tried to look up settings instructions for applying a Non Scotts product. details on Scotts website says to find spreader setting instructions on their website! There is NO settings chart on website! What a scam! Scotts has really gone down hill, with this attempt to force customers to purchase Scotts ONLY products!! We’ll never purchase a Scotts product again!

We apologize for the issue getting settings for non-Scotts products. Due to particle size we would not have this information. AS a rule you can do a 50X20 test area. Place enough material in the hopper to cover 1,000 sq. ft. (Usually indicated on the bag of product, if not indicated, take pounds in bag and divide by the number of thousand square feet bag covers. Example: 23lb bag covers 5,000 sq ft, divide 23 by 5 to get 4.6lbs per 1,000 sq ft). Place the spreader setting on a low setting (Usually one-fourth of the spreader setting range or less). Spread the material over a 50 x 20 ft. area (This is 1,000 sq. ft.). If material is left over, you need to increase the setting. If you come up short, you need to decrease the setting. While this is not a scientific method for getting the spreader setting, it will get you in the ballpark for your product or spreader.

Bad Spreader Bar Design
on June 2, 2024
Posted by: DisappointedRoger
The plastic shuut-off bar bends and flexes, resulting on it jamming open and allowing excess product to fall onto the lawn, resulting in dead spots. I previously owned a Scottts spreader with a steel shut-off bar. In 20+ years of use I NEVER had this issue. Is a steel bar available as a Service Part?
