Defective mechanism that does not shut off to stop
on June 15, 2021

My second edge guard spreader has the same problem like the first spreader! The mechanism when you let go to stop spreading does not work and it stays open! It is poorly designed and the edge guard spreader is useless now! I can’t buy a third one ! Scott should stand behind their products. I do not recommend Scott spreaders they are poorly made .

Wheels Causing Fertilizer Clumps
on July 22, 2021

The inside of the wheels collects fertilizer. The fertilizer then falls off in clumps when walking around, causing the grass to die in those spots.

Cheap plastic parts: no comparison to prior metal
on April 27, 2022

I needed a replacement for my old metal Scotts drop spreader that lasted over 30 years, but was rusting. This new "Classic" drop spreader was light weight and seemed promising, however during the first use spreading lime granules, they very quickly got stuck between the V-shaped bottom openings and the flow regulator bar, since the bar is plastic and simply deflected outward, thus preventing any more lime from passing through. The next time I used a finer powder form of lime and it worked reasonable well. Now this year when I went to spread fertilizer, I saw that all the little plastic teeth/pegs on the rotating agitator that are meant to force the contents out the bottom holes were very worn down after only 2 summers' use! My old metal spreader lasted over 30 years, and this cheap plastic one hasn't held up for over 2 years!

Works great but can never find setting use on bags
on May 1, 2022
Posted by: Twptommy
Had for few years, works great and edge guard works good when applying around edges and sidewalks. Biggest complaint is Scott's bags never have what setting number to use for that product. It list the other spreaders but not the mini. Tried to find on their website and no luck, the "find spreader setting " page doesn't work. Frustrating

Striped lawn
on June 15, 2022
Posted by: Blkstnsteve
I purchased the Speedy Green broadcast spreader 3 years ago. I only used it to apply moss control and lime until this spring. Abot two weeks after applying Turfbuilder Step 1. I could see dark green stripes in the grass. So I reapplied more turf builder in a perpendicular direction to the original thinking I did a bad job the first time. 2 weeks later and now I have dark green squares in my front yard. I did a test drop in a small area. I applied a bit of product on my driveway so I could see the distribution of the granuals better. I could see that the spreader was leaving a lot more product to the right side of the path . No wonder the lawn has stipes.

Biggest waste of money.

Whether it’s the product exhibiting signs of moisture or the spreader itself, nothing works according to the setting. I wish I would have never purchased it.
