Very accurate drop spreader, even distribution of material

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I use both a broadcast and a drop spreader. The drop spreader is used around beds, driveway, patios etc so I'm not wasting material or spreading where it's not wanted (herbicide in a flower bed). I always make sure to rinse out my spreaders after each use to avoid any corrosion to moveable parts or calibration linkage.
Pros: Easy to Use, Effective, Value, Quality

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Drop spreaders are much better than rotary for getting the material in the right place, so important if you are using an herbicide at the same time so you don't get it on your ornamentals.
Pros: Easy to Use, Good Directions, Quality
Cons: not as good as the old models

This product did not meet my expectations

I have been a loyal scotts customer for over 40 years,I purchased a classic drop spreader and i have to say it is the worst piece of junk I have ever wasted money on. Constantly have to recalibrate and it still doesn't drop correctly,Constantly clogs no matter the size of the granular formula and very uneven application.I'm sad to say that even their fertilizer and weed killer formulas are not what they use to be.Whats going on Scotts you're slipping!Tried a different brand fertilizer this year and now I have the the best looking lawn I've had in 5 years.

No-Quibble Guarantee

Scott used to tout their no-quibble guarntee but when contacted about it and you attempt to use it, there is a whole lot of quibbling. It has happened to me twice. I am a slow learner.

Settings don't respond to bag guidelines

I have used Scotts products and spreaders over 40 years. When the fertilizer formulations changed several years ago, the spreader settings never work for the desired fertilizer distribution. Normally the product goes about half of what it should cover if the spreader is set at the recommended opening as specified on the Scott's product. So, I purchased a broadcast spreader and had the same problems. I have never used any other spreader as it is hard to correlate the Scotts fertilizer bag settings to other spreaders. The only solution I have been able to do is to adjust the spreader settings on the run measuring the spread rate by how fast the product disappears out of the spreader box. I have recalibrated it several times using the instructions on the literature that came with the unit.
Pros: Easy to Use
Cons: Didn't work as expected

Scotts Turf Builder classic drop

The worst drop spreader.
I read many reviews and the problem hasn’t been addressed. The hopper will not close properly, hence leading to fertilizer continuously running out of the spreader.
This is the second spreader and the same thing is wrong with both Turf Builder classic drops!!
Was there a product recall?
I wouldn’t recommend this spreader to anyone.

Easy to use

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We used this for our late spring lawn application, and found the spreader to be so easy to operate and the distribution so very even. As we got close to concrete and stopped the spreader, the application stopped immediately. This was great experiencing less waste.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a really nice and well constructed spreader. I have this model and the larger model. Easy to use, these are very high quality spreaders for a good price. I highly recommend this spreader especially of you have a smaller yard.
