It is terrible

I applied Scotts Weed and Feed several days ago with this Scotts Broadcast Spreader. However, I just found this morning that my turf was burned with strips. The Weed and Feed was thrown inside wheels and left strips on my lawn. I used to trust Scotts products, however, it is the 2nd time it fails me recently. Would like to return it if possible.

Terrible design - do not buy this?

The part that rotates to distribute product is too low -- the product you are trying to spread hits the wheels and most of it falls between them. You end up with strips that have too much product and strips that have virtually none.

Calibration setting of 8 is WRONG

Had a 3000 spreader until it rusted out.........got the Turf Builder and set at 8 calibration.....got half the coverage ............had to water double to prevent burning......this is NOT a reliable spreader...............you have to calibrate for each different product put down

Easy and lightweight

I dont particularly have a small yard, just average, Id say. This spreader worked quickly and efficiently spreading Scotts weed and feed Turf Builder. I just followed the directions on the bag for 3 1/2 and it seemed to work fine. Just used today, so not sure if it spread enough to do the job, but having used this product many times before, it looked about right to me. People need to read the directions on the product package and not worry about what it says on the spreader. Every product is different(weed and feeds, grass seed, moss kill, etc.). Read the product packaging is your best bet. All in all very pleased with my purchase. Not just for small yards, but not for a football field either. I recommend to anyone.

Not worth the money

My son told me to take a coffee can and punch holes in it BUTT no i had to buy a spreader that dont work worth a darn I should have listened to him

Terrible product

I bought this spreader because my property is too mall for a broadcast spreader and there’s way too much waste. This spreader doesn’t spread at the rate the settings claim. The wheels arent big enough and wet grass causes the product to clog the opening. Also the spreader doesn’t close when the fertilizer gets stuck in the opening which allows for the fertilizer to keep falling out when you’ve released the handle. This thing is garbage. Should’ve just kept the rotary spreader.

Classic Drop Spreader Rate Control Problems

The first Scott’s lawn product that has disappointed us. Our Turf Builder Classic Drop lawn spreader appears to have problems with the rate control. When adjusting to the indicated setting, the cable that opens the hopper door is slack and the hopper door doesn’t open. One has to turn the rate control to indicated higher setting in order to drop product.
My lovely bride usually does the seeding, feeding and weed control…. I just discovered this when I wanted to surprise her this weekend with all the yard work completed.
Hoping that Scott’s has a solution to this problem.

The metal one was great

Holes get clog even when the grass is not wet certain product will clog the holes seem like the smaller products. Maybe the arger isn't close enough to the holes to push
It through. Never had this problem with my old metal drop speader which was the best until it rusted out, but I'll take another in a heart beat, this is my second drop that I haven't been happy with.
