OK, spreader but the spinning shaft has broken

I've owned this for a year but only used it two or three times. Just recently used it for approx 15 mins and the plastic shaft portion that is the moving/spinning piece in the hopper simply snapped in half. This part is a cylinder that goes to the bottom tray that actually throws the material out. The top is no longer connected to the bottom. I'm looking for spare parts now.

Please reach out to our Consumer Services team at 888-270-3714. Please look for the lot number on the side of the hopper which will provide us with the manufacture date. The number will be in black or dark purple ink or on a small white sticker in the following format: xxxx/TC/x where the x's are numbers and have this information available when you call.

Used the first bag and there were some rather large lumps that were too hard to break up and clogged up the spreader during use. Results are pretty good with greener grass.

The spreader is great.The fertilizer was a bust because after 3 bags of that stuff in a smaller than recommended area, the weeds are still out of control.

We're sorry that the Scotts Turf Builder Halts Crabgrass Preventer with Lawn Food did not control the Unknown Weed as expected and appreciate your feedback. The crabgrass preventer in this product does not control or kill any existing, growing weeds; it prevents certain annual grassy weeds from germinating. It must be applied to the soil prior to the germination of these weeds in the spring.
If you are having a problem with broadleaf weeds in your lawn, such as dandelions, ground ivy or chickweed, we recommend an application of Scotts Step 2 Weed Control Plus Lawn Food or Turf Builder Weed and Feed. These products contain fertilizer, so you need to wait a minimum of 6 weeks after your application of Scotts Turf Builder Halts Crabgrass Preventer with Lawn Food.
If you want to apply a straight weed control product without fertilizer, we recommend Ortho Weed-B-Gon Weed Control for Lawns. Please be certain to wait at least two weeks after applying this product before applying your next step in the annual lawn care program.
