Should you feel clumping in your next bag of Scotts Turf Builder Halts Crabgrass Preventer with Lawn Food, you may want to drop it on the cement once or twice in order to break up any particles before opening the bag. If there are still lumps, you can break the lumps up by hand. Be sure to wear gloves when doing so. The clumping of the product will not alter the effectiveness of the product. Unfortunately, it is caused by moisture that gets into the bag, either during the manufacturing process or during storage at our many retail outlets.

Have used the Scotts lawn fertilizers for decades and trust no other product on my lawn(s). Now that I'm retired, I especially like the convenience of buying a bundle with the four seasonal fertilizers all at once so I'm good to go for the year. Scotts fertilizers really make it easy to maintain a thick, weed free lawn, when some of the neighbors around me don't.
