Terrible Drop Spreader

Purchased brand new from Scott’s directly. All other complaints are valid. Wheel locks up , so product won’t go thru chute, very cheap. Scott’s did refund me, obviously many issues with this drop spreader. Had my old Scott’s drop spreader for 25 years, they are not made nearly the same anymore.

No documentation. So, guess how to use it

This product has no documentation. So, I will have to discover the correct settings by trial and error. The product label directs you to the Scotts.com website, which has NOTHING at all on it. Where is the documentation?

The spreader settings for your Scotts Turf Builder EdgeGuard Mini Broadcast Spreader is determined by the individual Scotts product that you're applying and will be on the bag itself so that there is no guesswork involved.

The settings on your spreader are designed to work with different product types. The settings are based on the physical size of the openings in the spreader hopper and the amount of product disbursement needed. Each spreader is unique, and the settings will vary depending on the product you are applying to your lawn. We include the spreader setting on all the product bags to help you get the best results.

Edgeguard uneffective novelty

have noticed it is innacurate as far as the settings go. kind of on the lean side of the scale. the edguard features does not work that well. still seems like it is throwing product over/around it. probably a good design on paper but not in the real world. has not broke yet on a large lawn. bought the smaller one to try and cut a corner or two. have used for seeding and fertilizer projects. just set the setting and extra click or so and u will be allright.
Pros: durable so far?
Cons: Didn't work as expected, edge guard feature a novelty more than function
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Poor design

Who ever designed this thing never actually used it. The spreading wheel is below the top of the wheels, so any fertilizer thrown to the sides hits the wheels ands falls straight down, killing your grass in small lines.

Easy to use

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I just used the spreader to put on Scotts early spring crabgrass preventer. It worked great. It is light weight, easy to handle, and makes an exact spread. Also I like that it is all plastic which will prevent rust. Very enjoyable to use.
Pros: Easy to Use, Effective, Good Directions, Quality, Value

Best yet can't beat it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] For a spreader this can not be beat! When your young and in a hurry this unit will drop the application where you walk regardless how fast you do it. When your old and want to take a stroll this unit still does it right and puts it on the ground and not in your shirt pocket or your shoe. As the saying goes - Do it right the first time not over. Best in control of the product, it folds up so you can hang it up. Dave 38..
Pros: best yet.
Cons: none to be said.
