Caused Damage / Tip

As written in other reviews - the spreader will likely cause damage or create stripes. The reason: fertilizer gets caught in the wheel and falls out as using a drop spreader.
The tip is to buy black spray foam and fill in the wheel (seen in another review). This is similar to others using pie tins or frisbees to block the wheels.
The steps are: remove the wheels / lie the wheels down and use the spray foam to fill in the spaces of the wheel / let the foam cure / use a serated blade to trim any excess / put the wheels on. Note: careful using the spray foam (use gloves) - and buy a reusable can.

It's a shame to have to do this since the spreader does not come with 'solid' wheels - but it does help and is not a terrible amount of work.
Otherwise - do not buy the spreader.

Old one is better!!

Good thing I still have my old one I need to use it to get all the dark green streaks out of my front and backyard.
The wheels are too big and to close together. the spreader is spreading the fertilizer right into the wheels and it’s leaving dark green streaks because it’s not spreading. The only thing I will tell people that I already bought it if you leave the edge guard and it won’t build up fertilizer in the wheel. Just have to make your stripes a little more narrow favoring the edge guard side.

Opposite of a "spreader"

Between the shield on the back of the spreader, and the whirligig being between the wheels, this "spreader" actually concentrates all the fertilizer between the wheels and leaves stripes in your lawn. A broadcast spreader should broadcast the fertilizer, not let 90% of it drop straight down

Do not buy

Don’t waste your money on. Causes nothing but stripes. The design of the wheels so close to the spreader it self is terrible. Threw mine away after use. Save your money or purchase one that actually works.

This product does not stand the test of time...

I bought this spreader almost now going on the third year and unfortunately, it does not stand the test of time and the plastic gears that are driven by the turning wheels, do nothing to ensure that the correct drop amount occurs from the holding bin. I will never purchase another Scott's brand spreader and have unfortunately lost faith in their brand.

product seems to work well but would be great if customer care listed answers to question rather than contact a number then everyone would know. Is the setting on the mini the same as a large?

Easy and amazing lawn spreader

Works great: settings impossible to find

Just like many of reviewer before me. Spreader works fine but locating the settings to know how much to put down if various products is impossible. FAIL.
