Not fast draining - caused root rot!

I bought this for repotting my cacti, palms and to mix in some soil for my other succulents. I was extremely concerned with the water retention immediately upon watering - water pooled on top of the soil and was the opposite of fast draining. I ended up mixing with perlite which helped some but the soil stays moist for what seems like forever - weeks longer than a normal watering cycle and has caused root rot on several plants. I was able to save a couple but some died. I’ll never use this soil again and do not recommend!
Cons: Didn't work as expected, Problem with label
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I used to but MG Cactus mix for everything I repot indoor and outdoor. I bought one bag for a small transplant of a rose, I opened the bag and it was not normal. It was like saw dust only no perlite or nothing. I put some in a pot and water just sat on top of soil and I mix it and poked holes in dirt and turned into mud. I grab the bag and dumped the rest with filler dirt in an area we r filling up. Using Kellogg cactus and palm soil now. Much better drainage and no bugs.

We're sorry to read about your disappointment with Miracle-Gro Cactus, Palm & Citrus Potting Mix and appreciate your feedback.

This product is formulated with processed forest products, sphagnum peat moss, sand, perlite, fertilizer, and a wetting agent. Soils and soil amendment products may dry out too much in shipping or storage. When our soils dry out they become naturally water repellent due to the peat moss and organic matter that are an important part of the soil mixture. If growing media/in-ground soil is dry upon opening the bag, we suggest you empty what is needed into a plastic bucket or tub and slowly stir in a small amount of water. Wearing garden gloves and/or using a garden tool to work the soil and water together thoroughly until moistened. Do not add too much water at once or the mix will be too wet. Soil should be damp like a squeezed out sponge. Since overly dry soils can be dusty and messy it is best to mix the product outside.

We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee to our consumers. At your earliest convenience, please reach out to us at 888-295-6902 if we can further assist.

I can hardly believe my eyes! I knew there was hope! I’ve transplanted my Christmas Cactus with your potting soil for Succulents and also purchased the Pump bottle of Succulent plant food. My plants are now thriving; hence the name “Miracle”-gro. Haha! My plants were stunted, now flourishing!! The new growth is amazing!! Thanks.

I am very unhappy with this product. The foam is messy and there is no way to figure out how much to add to water, because there are no directions on how to add it to water. Some of my plants are in small containers there is no way to put the foam on the soil.
Please bring back Miracle-Gro Liquid Cactus Plant Food! I have used if for years on my cactuses and succulents, and they are beautiful.
Cons: Difficult to use, Didn't work as expected, Messy, Problem with label

Go back to the drops!

This foam product is terrible. It lasted 10% of the time my last bottle of drops lasted, which means I will have the inconvenience of replacing it way more often and the insult of paying ten times the cost of the drops. Why change something that's working? I don't get it.
Cons: Messy, didn't last, costs a lot per use

Works Great

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am surprised how well this works. There are multiple ways to apply this. I mixed it up with a quart of water, and will be able to make many batches this way. My cacti have been very impressive since I have used this. I even used it on my outside cacti this spring. Impressive results especially since I live in northwest Ohio.
Pros: Easy to Use, Effective, Good Directions, Quality, multiple ways to apply

Horrible product

Soil is near %100 hydrophobic. Even in a cup with a little bit of soil and water, soil refuses to soak up any water. This is the 3rd bag I've tried, all with the same results.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I added this to my succulent in my office, which was do fine but I was seeing it a little weak for my taste. After 1 week, I see significant improvement. The leaves are a beautiful color and new healthy leaves have been growing. I love the ease to just pump the product and you are done. It is very easy to just cover the pump and no mess is done.
I will definitely buy it again.
