Broadcast striper!

Replaced my old Scott’s broadcast spreader that lasted 10 years. I am extremely disappointed with this new one. Fertilizer does not spread evenly causing dark green stripes in my lawn. I thought it was my fault at first, but after 4 applications and trying to modify the settings I get the same result. I do not recommend this spreader. Wish I still had the old one!

Not so Great!

I purchased this spreader to replace my old Scotts Broadcast that I had for 15+ years. I have not made it 6 months and it already is broken. The small wheel that rotates to keep fertilizer feeding stopped rotating which basically makes the spreader useless. I have a great lawn and have been using Scotts products for decades. I am very disappointed!

Stop blaming the user

When 90 Reviewers out of 496 (20%) give this spreader the lowest possible rating because of it's uneven distribution of product, its time to stop blaming them or saying you will refer it to your engineers. You have made $5400 worth of sales on those 90 customers, and have no intention of helping them resolve the problem. The edge guard mechanism and the open sided wheels facing inward are ridiculous failures and you should recall this defective product.

This spreader is terrible. It does not spread evenly as the product you are spreading hits the right wheel and does not spread evenly. I literally had stripes of crabgrass in my yard this summer because the pre-emergent was not spread evenly. It was really obvious as I put out blue coated grass seed and could see clear rows in the dirt. The second issue is the spreader settings are not correct as it does not distribute enough product per the instructions(it puts out about half of what it should so you need to go over the lawn twice). Be sure to measure the area and calculate the weight of product needed because the spreader settings are way off.

On-Off Issue

I bought this spreader last year and have been happy with it up to this point. Today I spent 3 hours spreading pelletized top dressing. The product spread easily as it should, but holding the spring-loaded chute control open for 3 hours was a real pain. My old spreader had a simple push-on / pull-off control. In 30+ years using it, I can only remember forgetting to turn it off once. Sometimes simpler is better.

Good seed bad yard equipment. Do not buy!!!!

I bought this spreader and after 1 use of applying Scotts turf builder on my yard, it broke. The plastic clip holding the chord to the handle to release the seed in the bottom broke. I love Scotts seeds and turf builder so I figured it was a one off and decided to buy a new one just today. Used it once again, 1 bag of Scotts yard seed and the black spinning piece inside, sheared right off. I was wondering why the seed wasn't coming out as I was walking along my yard and finally dumped the seed into a bucket to check it out and the black plastic spinning thing in the middle was laying in my seed and it was sheared off. This is a cheaply made plastic spreader and I should know better to buy anything plastic for the yard. I just shelled out a lot of money in under 30 days for not one but two of these which both broke without getting the job done! I wound up having better luck just spreading it with my hands. So disappointing.
