I have had my spreader for about 7 years or more. This year the axel rusted. Since the home improvement stores did not have the replacement parts, I contacted Scotts and they replaced it for free plus sent instructions on how to replace the assembly which was extremely easy. Completed it within 5 minutes and works like a charm! I also like having the edge guard on this product so I won't waste any weed and feed which I only use Scott's brands for my lawn. I have St Augustine grass and whenever I have had problems with weeds, Scotts products always takes care of it! I am completely satisfied with Scotts brand products and highly recommend! Besides why pay a lot of money for a lawn service to treat your yard. I did for a couple of months and was not satisfied at all. Scotts products took care of my needs and this spreader makes it very easy to use.
Pros: Easy to Use, Effective, Good Directions, Quality, excellent investment
I would recommend this to a friend!

Scotts DLX - Does Lines eXcellently?
on June 16, 2023
Posted by: geo580
I was excited to have a reason to purchase a new Scotts spreader after years of great results with my old Speedy Green 2000 that finally collapsed from exhaustion. What a nightmare my lawn is now, nothing but lines and disparate patches of deep green grass throughout the yard, courtesy of about $150 of Scott's Bonus S that was fed through the DLX over 10K+ sq.ft. of grass. Extremely disappointed in the 'performance' of this spreader. It ruined the appearance of my lawn and wasted the expensive Scotts product that I've invested in for years. Now I need to find more time and money to repair the mess it made.

Disappointed

This seems like the place to complain a bit. So, for some reason the center (thing that spins) keeps working loose. So not getting an even spread. For the money, should last much longer. Only used less than 12 times (with Scott’s fertilizer. ).

Spreads very unevenly
on June 16, 2019

This is a badly designed spreader that does not spread evenly. As someone else noted, its design is such that it concentrates most of the fertilizer near the wheels of the spreader, resulting in striping. This is so bad that the traditional method of assuring uniformity - spreading at half rate in perpendicular directions - does not work. Instead of stripes, you'll get a cross hatch pattern. This is cheaper than a pro-grade spreader, but you'll be throwing away money by badly fertilizing your yard every time you use it. A pity, because their drop spreaders were good - I used them for years before moving to a bigger house. Stay away from this one.

Junk

Cheaply made and poor-performing.
Edgeguard stays on even when moved to off, seed drops even when pull handle is released. I regret purchasing this and won’t make the mistake of buying Scott’s brand again.
I’m sure they’ll say ‘sorry and contact us…’ like they rubber-stamp on other reviews, and won’t waste my time. To the dump it goes.
Scotts…when almost half your product reviews are one star, you have a problem…stop asking each customer to take the action.

Avoid this spreader. It has a serious design flaw
on May 26, 2023

I purchased this product approximately six weeks ago and attempted to use it for the first time today (5-26-2023). The spreader discharged the fertilizer in a very uneven pattern regardless of how slowly or quickly it was pushed across the lawn. The spreader is poorly designed with the problem being that the spreader discharge plate is located below the top of the two wheels. This results in the fertilizer striking the wheels and if the lawn is wet (as recommended on the Scotts bag of fertilizer) the wheels will also become wet and the fertilizer with then stick to the two wheels. This stuck fertilizer then randomly falls upon the lawn as the spreader is pushed and will result in the "streaked" lawn problem noted in numerous other reviews.
