I only use this spreader once or twice per year, so not heavy use. The gearbox broke so Scott's sent me a new one. Now the hopper drop door won't close, so when I squeeze the grip the door opens and will not shut. It also seems to go past the calibrated opening and goes full open. This sure wastes a lot of (expensive) fertilizer!
Pros: Easy to Use, Effective
Cons: Didn't work as expected, Messy
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

On/off cable is broke.

Excited to use my new spreader I bought, the the agitator in hopper stopped working in first application of Scott's Triple Action Fertilizer. Disappointing.

Buyer Beware

Second season using spreader and the handles just folded in from weight of fertilizer. Had to add pipe to slide over handles for reinforcement and drill new mounting holes for screw/ knob assembly. Went to set broadcast settings and cable seems to have come out from top of spring at handle. At this point I give up. I have been in landscaping my whole life and Scott's has always been the go to brand but it's clear this spreader is cheaply made and not worth the money.

I don't recommend this spreader

I owned 2 of these units and both failed the same way, the second after just a couple uses speading pelletized limestone. The plastic shaft that drives the rotating feeder arm inside the bin broke. Scotts should pay a few cents more for a metal shaft to fix the problem. Also, the spreading disk is below the tops of the wheels, so fertilizer or pelletized lime hits the wheels and creates stripes in the yard. I like Scotts fertilizer but won't buy another Scotts spreader.

Garbage/Cheap/no good!

Disappointed

Jj have a small one that works ok so I thought I would try the bigger one so I wouldn’t have to stop as much to refill. Way too much resistance! I can barely push it and have to stop to rest. Surely something is wrong.
