Poor placement of the hopper opening

I have one of the older model broadcast spreaders without the edge guard feature. It does a good job of product distribution, but the hopper outlet is not at the bottom of the hopper. Therefore, it is impossible to discharge all of the product from the hopper making it difficult to clean out the spreader by distributing product. I have noted the newer models on the store shelves have changed this feature, so the new models should empty well.
Pros: Effective
Cons: Difficult to use

Really love this new Scotts spreader because the EdgeGuard Technology keeps the fertilizer off the driveway and out of the gardens. Much more accurate than our previous spreader, which was the Scotts Easy-Green. Also, easier to clean.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Scotts Edgeguard Broadcast Spreader is a perfect asset to own when you do your own lawn care. I have owned and used this spreader for the last 3 years. It is very durable and simple to use and clean. The edge guard is a great feature helping to keep the fertilizer exactly where you want it to go. It compliments very well the Scotts products I put down on my lawn 5 times a year.
