Part of my lawn care combat materials for years

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Using the edgeguard spreader has made the job of lawn maintenance a pleasure. Before switching to the Edgeguard, I had used the Scott's drop spreader. I am happy that I made the switch.
Pros: Easy to Use, Effective, well made product.

As many people have pointed out, this unit has it's flaws. But even with that in mind I used far less fertlizer with this than my privious scotts rotary. So it saved me money. So far after 2 seasons it is still working. Note: I fertilize over 2 acares...
Pros: Effective
Cons: wheels, shut-off

Bad wheel design

After using the spreader on wet grass, most of the fertilizer got stuck on the inner wall of the wheels. The wheels on the inner side have pockets without the covering as outer wall, thus causing the fertilizer to fill in those pockets. Also the the throw distance is not equal on all sides. The left side and the front area throw is farther than the right side. Scotts needs to redesign the wheels.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Good Spreader

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought the spreader this Spring - I had to replace the old one that gave up after 15 years. I have used it once and it worked great. The edge guard is great for keeping the fertilizer off the walks, off the driveway and out of the flower beds. It handled the 15,000 sq ft bag of fertilizer with no problem. Spreads even and easy to operate. I do like that most of it is plastic to reduce the corrosion. Only time will tell how durable it is. I would not us it for commercial applications, I do not think it could take the abuse.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Being 58 yrs old & having always done my own yard I've thrown away numerous spreaders. I've had this one for 7 years and it's in great shape. All I do is rinse it after each use. I love the rotary spreader for coverage. Highly recommend it.
