had spreader about 2-3 yrs and plastic unit that turns the thrower broke. Some other spreaders use metal instead of plastic.
Pros: Easy to Use, Effective
Cons: part broke in 2 - 3 years
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

One of the worst products I've ever used

1) It won't hold a calibration through even one spreading session. 2) Its spread pattern is uneven -- it throws more to one side than the other. So when you make evenly spaced passes on your lawn you get alternating stripes of green and lighter green grass. 3) The open backsides of the wheels catch the fertilizer and then tend to dump it when you make a turn, burning the grass. 4) The handle length is too short for a tall person. You have to bend over the whole time -- uncomfortable, sometimes painful! 5) The handle width is too narrow, if you have long arms you'll have a hard time walking a straight line on most lawns.
Pros: hopper won't rust
Cons: Messy, Didn't work as expected, Difficult to use, won't stay calibrated, uneven spread pattern, wheels catch fertilzer, makes my back hurt, hard to walk a straight line, poor design, ineffective, poor value
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Unless you are a lawncare professional, this spreader fits the bill for the four or five times you need during the year. Hose clean after use and will provide years of faithful service. Only gripe is that the wheels are open to which accumulates a lot of product by the time your are done an article plication. Handle is short for anyone over 5'10" which puts a mild strain on the back and shoulders.. of course Scotts website posts the writting guidelines immediately on top of the review box so I can't see to correct the typos in the above review.
Pros: Effective
Cons: wheels collect fertilizer/weedkill, handle short for 5'10" plus
I would recommend this to a friend!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] If you live on a corner lot as I do it makes sense to engage the edge guard to the on position and minimize wasting any product on the driveway or street. Lightweight and easy to maneuver around the lawn.
Pros: Easy to Use, Effective, Good Directions, Value, Quality

I really like this spreader. It was easy to set up and use. Although it is light weight, it seems well built and sturdy. I used it to fertilize a 5000 sq.ft. lawn. Using the setting recommended by the fertilizer manufacturer, this spreader applied the correct amount of product. The edge guard worked great, keeping the product out of my flower beds. Clean-up was easy. I definitely recommend this spreader
