Should be labeled "Disposable Spreader".

I agree with other reviews, complete junk don't waste your money. Spend a little more and get a spreader that will last many years and has parts readily available in the event something breaks. The part that broke on my "Deluxe" edgeguard is the plastic shaft that connects the drive to the spreader disc. It is made out of cheap hollow plastic. I mean really, a shaft made of flimsy hollow plastic. Never again Scott's! You fooled me once, but it won't happen twice. If the spreader is low quality junk, one can only assume all Scott's products are junk!!! This one is going to the landfill where it belongs!!!

Great - if you like a striped lawn ...

I bought this spreader 5-6 weeks ago after my old Scotts broadcast spreader finally began to fall apart. Now that I have a much bigger yard, I figured it was time to upgrade. I am very unhappy.
My old spreader always did a good job of evenly distributing whatever product I was using but not this new one. In spite of being very careful spreading WinterGuard on a windless day, my lawn is now striped. So much for the "upgrade." And, no, I wasn't accidentally using the EdgeGuard feature.
Further, I tried setting the spreader on 3 1/4, as the bag instructed, but the dial for setting the spreading rate wouldn't actually go to the 3 1/4 mark. Instead, it would go halfway between 3 and 3 1/4 or halfway between 3 1/4 and 3 1/2 so I set it in between 3 and 3 1/4 meaning I have no clue what the actual spread rate was.
The other Scotts products I've been using - seed and fertilizer - seem to be doing fine but this spreader has failed to distribute them evenly, which is what I bought the spreader to do in the first place. Now I have the only striped lawn in the neighborhood.
I'm really disappointed with the quality and performance of this spreader.

not a spreader.....but a dropper

I bought this 'spreader' to apply multiple products from fall through the year. Not until this spring did I discover that it does not spread! apparently the wheels are in the way of product spreading to the sides. The only product being applied to the lawn is directly below the hopper. . I did not know this was happening until I applied fertilizer this spring and then ended up with a striped lawn.....growing great where the 'spreader' dropped the fertilizer straight down and struggling where it was not applied. I tried to attach a photo of my striped lawn, but was told. 1 photo was too large....really? I would like to return this poorly designed thing.

Uneven spread of seed

My Scott DLX Edgeguard spreader does an extremely poor job of spreading seed inasmuch as it concentrates a very heavy swath about 7" wide directly below the spinner, and much less to the sides. I will no longer use it, and as it is about a year old I assume I cannot return it.

Like many others here, I thought this spreader would do a great job. My lawn after applying fertilizer, now has nice dark green strips.

Guaranteed to give your stripes

The spreader isn’t so bad, but if you use a smaller granular, almost guaranteed that you will have stripes in your lawn. The small granules collect inside the hollow wheels, and then fall out and leave lines like tiger stripes across your lawn.

Another unwary buyer

Like so many others I really wish I had read these reviews prior to purchasing. I have seen the striping problem as well a difficulty in getting it properly calibrated. Given all of the poor reviews I would love to see a response from Scott that says were hear you our engineers are working on it or tell us what we are doing wrong so we can correct the problem. Seriously I can't recall seeing a product with as many bad reviews that is still on the shelf waiting for more unwary buyers.
