Best overall spreader I have ever owned

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been taking care of my various lawns from Fla to NJ over the past 45 years that I've been a home owner. This spreader I have owned for the past 5 years and it is one of the best I've ever owned. Unlike others, this one won't rust out nor will the wheels stop turning or the rotary spreader stop working. Everything is built solid. Just hose it off when you've finished and let it dry. My neighbor always borrows mine because his doesn't work as well. Most bags of material (bug killer, fungus control, fertilizer, etc), will have this edger listed so you know the exact setting for the product. It is light weight and easy to push, and because it is rotary you won't end up with streaks lines in your yard. If it ever broke, I would immediately buy a new one.
Pros: Easy to Use, Effective, Value, Quality, won't rust
I would recommend this to a friend!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Spreader works well with small or large load. Wheels have lasted for years and all parts hold up very well also.
Pros: Effective, fun to operate

Laughing stock of neighborhood

I live on 1/2 acre of land and I bought this "deluxe" model a year ago since my previous spreader kept breaking down. I have a corner lot in a nice neighborhood. I noticed last year that I was getting streaks (lines) in my lawn after fertilizing. I thought I had my settings in correct or I wasn't overlapping properly. After all I use it only about 4-5 times per year. My neighbors keep giving me advice on how to spread product, but this year I realize that its the spreader. It does NOT spread product evenly. I have the edge guard off and it still spreads more heavily to one side and leaves a trail on the other. I think the fertilizer leaks out and drops to the wheels to leave this line. I've tried to compensate for that but no luck. I'm sure its too late to return this spreader but I wish I could.
I think Scotts fertilizer is very good and I love using it, but I wish I had a fix for their spreader or could get my money back.
I would upload a picture but your website requires my image must be 533 pixels tall and a minimum of 533 pixels wide. This is very strange. It sounds like you're afraid to view my image of a streaky front yard!
Pros: Easy to Use
Cons: Didn't work as expected, leaves streaks
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this spreader 1 hour ago. Brought it home and began using. I hit a small bump in my yard and the handle bent. Within 20 minutes of use, the trigger quit working, and the fertilizer will no longer come out of the spreader. All of this for $57.
Do not buy this spreader~!!!
Cons: Didn't work as expected, Difficult to use, broke immediately
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I have had the spreader for almost exactly 1 year. I used it last year for the application of Scotts 4 Step fertilizer products. Today, I used it for first application this year. Half way through the application, the EdgeGuard control on the handle broke. My investigation found that inside the control, there is a plastic retainer with a slot that the end of the control cable fits into. A piece of the plastic retainer broke off and now the end of the cable will not stay in the retainer. So, future use of spreader will not have benefit of EdgeGuard. Overall though, I do like the spreader and do recommend it to neighbors and while in retirement I do work part time in Garden department at Home Depot and will continue recommending spreader to customers but being an honest guy, will mention to them my experience. But- I am going to check this year's models to see if EdgeGuard control has been improved.
Pros: Value, Easy to Use, Good Directions, Effective

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Edgeguard is a servicable spreader. It does what it says it will do. I do forget which setting I have it on (full vs edge) which creates problems. Perhaps the control tab could be moved to the top or an indicator could be in view.
Pros: Easy to Use
Cons: which mode is on?
