I've used the cheaper stuff and it works okay but Scott's works really, really well even at less than the recommneded dose. Way better than the cheap stuff. I am thrifty but every couple years I used Scott's to bring it all back!

I have owned and operated this Deluxe Broadcast Spreader for at least 15 years and haven't had ONE problem until today in which the drive wheel axle input tab broke off. I have jockeyed this spreader up and down steps over rough uneven ground and about anything else you can imagine taking care of my lawn. I am COMPLETELY SATISFIED with this purchase. I can tell from the photos sent by unsatisfied users that ALMOST ALL of them haven't done the most basic maintenance that is required such as RINSING THE THING OFF AFTER USING IT. Remember you are most likely spreading caustic materials which, left sticking to the spreader, will over a SHORT PERIOD rust and degrade the spreaders performance. In the photos I see chemical skim, build up around the plastic rotor, unwashed wheels that judging from the looks have never been washed. In short most of your problems have been caused by YOU. TAKE CARE OF YOUR STUFF AND IT WILL ALMOST 100% OF THE TIME DO WHAT IT WAS DESIGNED TO DO!

Scott’s is a Cut Above

Don’t exactly know what it is about the formulation of Scott’s products, but their products have ALWAYS produced better results for me for over 30 years. Always worth a few more shekels to buy the good stuff.

Terrible Dispersal Rates With This Spreader

I bought a this new Scotts Spreader. I also bought the expensive Scotts Turf Builder Winterguard fertilizer, instead of the much cheaper brands available. I wanted to do whatever necessary to keep my lawn in great shape, regardless of the high cost of these Scotts products. However, when I used the spreader, IT DISPERSED LESS THAN A 15,000 SQ. FT. BAG ON MY WHOLE 40,000 SQ. FT. LAWN! Ridiculous! What do I do now? Blindly double the rate and risk burning my lawn? I have no idea how to proceed, how to properly fertilize my lawn with these Scotts products. Very frustrating!
