Scotts, you should be ashamed! When did you change the packaging from 5,000sqft to 4000sqft? Shrinkflation!! This 4 pack is now 4000sqft to small for my lawn.

Fertilizer buildsup on the inside of the wheels and causes stripes . I have burn stripes all over my lawn . It totaly ruined my lawn!

Metered Dispensing Very Spotty

I bought this yesterday and I put the metered setting dial exactly as instructed on the bag of starter fertilizer. At first it seemed as if no fertilizer was dropping, then after shaking the spreader a little, some would drop, but very erratic / spotty. I could hear it go from spreading to not (audible change in the sound of pellets flowing and hitting spreader). I could also see it go from spreading, throwing pellets and then none, even though my walking pace was consistent. The only way I could get any level of consistent spreading was to nearly double the dispensing setting (recommended was 4-3/4, had to go with 7) and shake it often. I’m not sure if it’s simply a poor design in how the dispensing door and opening work or if my new unit is defective. Either was this is a major disappointment in performance.

It Will Stripe Your Lawn

I had an old Scott’s broadcast spreader that I used for over 20 years and bought the edgeguard spreader expecting similar performance. It has ruined my lawn with stripes. Don’t buy it.

I have just used it for the 1st time and already know it will do just fine. It meters accurately, pushes fairly easily, the controls are friendly and intuitive, it cleans up quickly and well. At the price point this is a heck of a value.
