Clicking Noise with Every Rotation.

I’m surprised this unit is still being sold. I bought mine 10 months ago and after a few uses, it started developing a clicking noise. Turns out it was one of the fins on the spreader hitting the edge guard with every rotation. Seemed to be worse when the hopper was full. I assume the gears will be the next to go as a result of the constant clicking. In any case, add in a shute door that won’t close and a couple of hollow wheels that catch whatever you’re spreading and you get a really poorly designed product.

ten uses and fell apart

I bought this and used it maybe ten times. Yesterday the spreader gears and spinner/spreader under the hopper fell apart. Still trying to see if parts are available to try and repair.

Edge Guard

I bought the summer of 2023. As of the end of the year, the edge guard was stubborn to use.
Grabbed it for spring, and looked at it, move the off to on, and I heard a snap, cable broke

This is the biggest piece of garbage.

The spinner at the inside bottom of the product tub is useless. The thing is always clogged with chunks of product. The wheels slide and cause inconsistent spread. Wish I hadn't thrown my old rusty one out. This one was a waste of money. I would rate this one a zero if I could.

Waste of moneh

Used twice. First time I used it I noticed it was stripping teeth in the gear. Second time, it is unusable. Will be the last Scott’s branded item I buy.

Just horrible quality

I've used Scott's products for years. When my old broadcast spreader was done for, I purchased the Scott's Turf Builder DLX with Edgeguard. From the first use, there were issues. Application distribution was uneven and caused stripes in my yard. My yard is something I take pride in and it looked like some hillbilly went to the feed store and put something down. It took the rest of last season to bring it around. Thanks a lot, Scotts. Now today, the problems persist. The Edgeguard cable is stuck (finally got it loose) and the gate doesn't open consistently. It doesn't always close fully and product leaks out. Thanks again, Scotts. The left axle is so long that it keeps knocking the orange hub cover off. Who designs this stuff? Now I'll have to make up some sort of spacer to keep that from happening. The bottom is that today, my two 5,000 square foot bags of Scotts only ended up putting one down...and that's spotty.

Cheaply built.

This is the third spreader I’ve purchased in as many years. They are cheaply built. Each one can barely churn out the fertilizer, they clog frequently and the drive wheel breaks on the slightest bump and has collapsed on the weight of the full hopper.
