Won't apply fertilizer per setting/not even close

I bought this spreader over a year ago now and can't get it to put on the correct amount of fertilizer. I have a 10,000 sq-ft lawn so I generally buy a bag that will cover 15,000 sq-ft but when I use the recommended setting on the bag I barely put on a 1/3 of the bag. I have used Scotts brand of fertilizer but this year tried a different kind with the same results. To get this spreader to even come close to applying the amount of of fertilizer needed I have to almost double the recommend setting which for the fertilizers I have been using is around 4 1/2. Not very happy with this spreader. Wish there was some way to adjust the opening. I seriously doubt this was calibrated as they say.

Product leaves stripes on my lawn

First time using it I noticed that the fertilizer hits the wheels as it comes out. Does not spread more than 3 to 4 feet. I apply product in both directions so there shouldn't be any stripes. Returning this spreader.

Poor design

I’ve used it twice. Both times it left stripes in my yard. The fertilizer hits the wheels and falls to the ground. Returned it for a refund.

Not up to Scotts quality standards

Uneven fertilizer application. Stop telling owners "We're sorry." Go back to your design engineers and tell them to FIX THE PROBLEMS!

Edge Guard Breaks

This is the 2nd spreader I have owned with the Scotts Edge Guard. I love the feature but when the cable breaks, and it will, your done. There are no replacement parts available.
The spreader will still function but the Edge Guard is history.

Newer Models = Agitator Too Short

I had a 2014 worked like a thoroughbred till axle rusted through and snapped. Bought a new one in April 2023, and it kept clogging - on closer inspection, the agitator arms are much shorter and don't reach the clogs.
Now I have to gerry rig something or swap agitators etc... PIA
I'm guessing someone got their fingers stuck in the drop hole and lost'em!

This product has been a disappointment

I had an old Scotts Edge Guard Spreader for years that I loved and I decided it was time for a new one. I used it for the first time this week and it performed poorly. Nothing like my old one. I couldnt see where it was applying my fertilizer evenly and after I covered my yard completely I still had half my fertilizer left in
the hopper. Performance is poor! I shook the thing several times and it just didn’t seem to be letting fertilizer out to the spreader. Im going to return this unit and see if I can find a better spreader! Very disappointed!

Dont buy

The settings are so far off the recommended setting. I am finding the drop area slowly clogs up reducing the amount fertilizer being spread. I am constantly having to reach in an make room for the fertilizer to drop. Defective spinning apparatus. Ridiculous.
