Cheap cheap cheap.
Can’t buy replacement parts for the cheap crap it’s built with.

Does not handle larger granules
on September 7, 2021
Posted by: Don630
The spinner and shaft broke while using a granular product that has larger pieces than the typical Scotts granular products. Everything is plastic on these spreaders and they seem pretty cheap for the price. Think twice about this if you are using high-quality granular products...they may be too big for this spreader.

Poor Design
on September 15, 2021

The product in the bin gets distributed mainly between the wheels leaving lines. The broadcast wheel is too low and should be moved above the wheels.

Stripes your lawn!
on April 13, 2022
Posted by: Unhappy Spreader
This spreader does nothing but stripe the lawn. The impeller is at a lower height than the tires, so fertilizer/seed/etc gets caught between the tires causing too much product being dropped directly below the spreader. I would avoid this spreader if I were you.

Worst spreader I ever owned
on May 14, 2022
Posted by: bad product
I have now discovered if you want a spreader with a large enough hopper for a 15k sq ft bag you have no choice but to pay more for the marketing gimmick that is the Edgeguard. The biggest issue with this spreader is that the agitator at the bottom isn't long enough to break up the clumpy fertilizer. This results in poor distribution of the fertilizer and overall poor performance of the product.

Didn't work
on May 14, 2022

The edgeguard feature broke right away and the settings were not calibrated correctly and could not get it to work right. Could not return because I bought it last fall but didn't use it until spring.

Worthless
on May 16, 2022
Posted by: Scott8933
Agitator is not strong enough to push through clumps of fertilizer or seed if there are any and the feeder gets clogged repeatedly. Not too mention, whenever the seed or fertilizer does make it through, it doesn’t “broadcast” at all. My yard looks like a checkerboard. I followed the instructions and still it’s as if the fertilizer drops in a straight line directly beneath the spreader and nowhere else. Garbage item.

Weed and feed clumping prevented easy spreading
on May 30, 2022
Posted by: Baird
I bought this spreader new last fall and used it for the first time today (5/30). The brand new Scotts weed and feed was dry and granular at the top of the bag when I started, and the spreader worked well. Partway through the bag though (again a NEW bag), the fertilizer was just a little bit damp, and clumpy. Well, the spreader just couldn't handle that. It didn't break up the clumps, and they clogged the exit hole from the hopper. I broke up as many clumps as I could with my hands but some of them were really hard. I've seen people on line jury-rig mesh plates in their spreader to filter out clumps. I feel like the spreader should have some rotating metal teeth to break up the clumps. Surely this is a fairly common problem. It took me forever to do the job. I suspect my lawn will have well-fertilized sections and poorly fertilized sections. Don't want to be too hard on this product, but honestly, is this the best design available? It's the same basic design my father used in 1970.
