I really love the fertilizer, it has always done a great job in my lawn however the fertilizer spreader is terrible. The edge guard continually gets stuck or hits something underneath and makes a terrible sound as well as jamming the spreader. It’s very frustrating to use because I had to stop frequently. I have a smaller one with no edge guard and it works but it’s had to push in my big lawn with small tires :(

Excellent product at an excellent price. My only thoughts on this
is the packaging of the fertilizer is unclear about the settings on
the spreader provided. However I did work it out to set the spreader
at 3.5 and it worked out fine. My yard is always the showplace on
the street.

Product worked for about 2 years on lawn

I purchased my Scotts Edgeguard DLX just over 2 years ago. Worked fine up until today. Now the wheels seems to have lost the bite to the axel and so they spin but the axel does not. Disappointed in this product to only last 2 years

Thank you for your feedback regarding your Scotts Turf Builder DLX Broadcast Spreader.
When streaks appear after an application, you can be sure they are caused by either a mechanical problem or human error and not by disease or insects. Narrow light green or yellowish streaks may be due to not properly overlapping when applying a product that contains fertilizer (whether that is not overlapping enough, causing some streaks to not green up because did not receive any fertilizer, OR overlapping too much and overapplying fertilizer to some areas, causing the grass to yellow or brown out).
Broad streaks the width of a spreader or wider may be caused by several things, including a spreader out of calibration, a rusted or broken spreader, using the incorrect setting, pulling the spreader backwards while in the open position or filling the spreader on the lawn without shutting it off first.
In the case of an Overapplication the best thing to do is to water the lawn regularly to dilute the fertilizer. Prior to next application read directions carefully regarding spacing and check your spreader to verify it is working properly.

Not a 5' spread. I could shake it periodically and it would spread wide. Otherwise may a 3' spread.

The spreader has one drive wheel; the other wheel free turns and does not engage the gearbox, which therefore does not turn the rotor plate or agitator. Check that the agitator spins when pushing the spreader forward. Is the shut-off plate at the bottom of the hopper opening and closing properly? Check that the square rotor plate below the hopper is spinning as it should so it can throw the product. Make sure there are no jams of hard or wet product and that the Edgeguard is properly functioning.
