Received the spreader fully assembled -- that's great. Followed the directions on the bag and set the knob of the spreader -- so simple. Best of all, at the correct setting, the fertilizer went a long way. Best of all, three weeks later my lawn is beautifully green and flourishing, .

EdgeGuard DLX Broadcast Spreader Leaves Lines
on May 9, 2022
Posted by: KDavid
I bought the Scotts Turf Builder EdgeGuard DLX Broadcast Spreader March 2022. I have used it once and my lawn has green stripes where the middle of the spreader traveled. The EdgeGuard was not switched to the on position, so that was not the problem. I have done my own lawn care for 45 years & used Scott's Speedy Green for the last 12 years with no problems. The stripes are NOT related to overlap or user error. Problem was over 8K sq ft, and not related to amount of material in spreader.

Poor design results in striped yards
on May 20, 2023

The only spreader I've ever used that leaves the yard striped. It has a very small broadcast radius which is part of the issue. I also think the open/hollow inside of the plastic wheels collects fertiler and leaves strips as you go.

Poor Distribution of Fertilizer, Design Flaw.
on May 23, 2023
Posted by: Marc V
Very poor even spreading of product, uneven distribution of fertilizer not only causing of dark green stripes, but very little fertilizer in the center, distribution rate was off and on. Looks like a design flaw that's been reported by other users. This product should be taken off the market. I have been using Scotts green max fertilizers , and never had a problem any time of the year, great product, until using this spreader. DONT BUY.

We recommend you check that the rotor, gearbox or agitator is not bent or damaged. When applying, if not walking fast enough the spreader will not fling the product properly and therefore will potentially hit the wheels. All of our broadcast spreaders under went a design change at the end of 2020 that changed rotor angle and changed the agitator back to a 2-wing agitator. These changes reduces the potential for the product to hit the wheels. We would like the opportunity to gather some additional information and offer assistance.

More of the same streaking
on June 8, 2023
Posted by: TayeTig
Wish I would've checked some reviews before I bought this from our local farm store. I also used scotts fertilizer (lawn pro) and my yard is streaked something horrible also. I always thought this brand was pretty close to top of the line for diy, having different thoughts.

Not Happy!
on June 9, 2023
Posted by: Cooper2012
Bought last fall for the last fertilization of the summer/fall. Assumed it worked fine until I applied my spring application. I now have stripes galore in my lawn, with some areas looking like maybe over application. I replaced my old Scotts spreader only because it has a small hopper, but it would at least spread evenly. Where I do both directions when fertilizing it looks like a checkerboard. So disappointed with this new spreader! Unfortunately I can't return to store. I am not new at this, I've been working on my lawns for forty some years, and I'm not happy with this spreader!

When streaks appear after an application, you can be sure they are caused by either a mechanical problem or human error and not by disease or insects. Narrow light green or yellowish streaks may be due to not properly overlapping when applying a product that contains fertilizer; either not overlapping enough and causing some streaks to not green up because did not receive any fertilizer, or overlapping too much and overapplying fertilizer to some areas, causing the grass to yellow or brown out.
Broad streaks the width of a spreader or wider may be caused by several things including a spreader that is out of calibration, a rusted or broken spreader, using the incorrect setting, pulling the spreader backward while in the open position, or filling the spreader on the lawn without shutting it off first, among other causes.
In the case of a believed overapplication, the best thing to do is to water the lawn regularly to dilute the fertilizer.

Wheels are taller than the spinner, so grains mostly fall straight down.
