Not robust enough for large lawn

Spreader worked just fine a few times but things are so flimsy and not very durable.! I would pay twice to 3x as much for higher quality.!

Looks like I got lucky

I've used my EdgeGuard spreader regularly for several seasons, and it's held up pretty well. Yeah, there are occasional hints of striping, and you have to shake it constantly to spread the last of most materials, but it seems to be decently calibrated, and hasn't fallen apart. Not exactly a glowing review, but it sounds from the reviews like there's a lot of room to improve this item.

Not great, but pretty darn good

I purchased this edgeguard spreader quite a few years ago (10?). It's worn well with 2 problems; 1) the rotor came loose after a few years. Scotts replaced it quickly and I installed it and it has worked well since. 2) The cable housing for the EdgeGuard feature slipped out of the lever housing and has never really worked well. I had to hold the cable housing to get the EdgeGuard to work. I ultimately fixed it by crimping a small piece of metal to the housing and re-assembled the lever. It works fine now. I've gotten a lot of years of service from the spreader and hope to get several more. Thanks!

Use the edge guard only when needed

The jury is still out on this spreader. That’s why I gave it 3 Stars. In reading other reviews about stripes in the lawn and not evenly spread fertilizer my guess is to use the edge feature when edging then switch to non edging feature when doing the rest of the lawn. Overlap a little and this might cure the unevenness of the application. If I’m right then this rating could be 5 stars.

I bought mine years ago, I can't remember when. It has only had issues after using it for salting in the winter. I quick cleanup in the spring and it was like new.

Can't trust

Well hate to kick a product when it's down but the spinning part inside broadcaster pops off shaft but real problem is you don't realize it and by the time you do you don't know how much came out, too much, to little,too unreliable!

Drive wheel dragging

I bought this two years ago. I put about 200 pounds of product through it annually.
The last time my daughter used it, she reported it was difficult to push because the drive side wheel is contacting the frame, especially problematic when the hopper is full.
What can I do to fix this?
