Reduction of bag size

Last evening, I discovered Scotts went from 15,000 sq ft. bags to 12,000 sq ft. bags with a price increase. What a disservice to your loyal clients. To find the positive out of this, maybe its a perfect time to shop around competing products. Thanks Scotts.

I will no longer be using your product if you don't change the size of the bags back. It isn't about the pricing as I am willing to pay more, and watch for sales. Its about sizing and am not going to be buying multiple bags just to go to waste. You do not offer resealable bags so anything that isn't used pretty much goes to waste as its one giant clump the next year. I rather pay more for a different brand and not waste product. Yet another company trying to dup its customers by making them pay more for less.

So why is Scott's taking a 5000 sf bag and reducing it to 4000??? I have always used 5000 for my yard now I have to buy 2 bags and have leftover. Time to look at other products.

Good but poor value

This is an excellent fertilizer I have used for over 10 years. However, due to the recent reduction in bag size and the egregious price increase I will be using alternatives in the future. I can buy the elite fertilizers at this price. Thanks Scotts for steering me into higher quality lawn care products.

As someone else stated, good productbut price is exorbitant! And now, like everyone else, you cut the amount from 15k to 12k and think no one will notice, NOT.
please don't reply with your automated response of call customer service.

I used it after the leaves were down to round out the year and provide a long lasting overwinter treat for the lawn. I use mostly organics the rest of the year. I like the small prill size of this premium product as it dispenses through a drop spreader easily (I used a scotts drop spreader), and covers nicer compared to larger round balls other companies produce. I like the quicker ammonium sulfate, and then slower release types of urea in this, as well as the natural sulfate of potash (potassium sulfate) for cold stress and helps resist dormancy, the color loss was minimal this year as it was a very mild winter with hardly and extreme cold below 20 or lengthy snow cover, (Snow cover can be a benefit when its really cold and windy though). I don't exactly remember if I used the #10 or 8 or 6 setting on the drop spreader, It's not as much of a risk of burning putting it down heavier after the leaves are down when its good and chilly down to freezing at night, it has more lasting effect through to the spring then. It's not a pre- nor a post- emergent and isn't to blame for weeds. This is the best "winterizer" available for cool season lawns that see freezing down to 20F and below in my opinion, so it stands to reason it's not the cheapest either. You could buy the separate ingredients list on the label perhaps for less money and if you really have large multi acreage property, but this makes it an easy one time application for me, I used 8 of the 32.6 lb bags over the 1.5 acres I applied it to and I applied a little heavier than bag rate perhaps (unintentionally). I didn't experience any burning though. I think you want it cold enough like slightly before your last mow somewhere mid-to-late November in my area (south eastern PA), after all the autumn leaves are down and cleaned up off of the lawn.
