Not what it use to be!

I have been using Moisture Control Miracle Grow Potting soil for years. My potted flowers have always been stunning. This year I am on my second round of plants in many containers, they are dying as well; I’ve only given one photo example. I could give you 20. Plants and soil are ridiculously expensive this year. After being a satisfied customer for years, I will look for another product. What did you do to your Moisture Control soil this year? Use inferior product? Someone had a great idea in product management to throw something else in? You’ve really mucked up a good product Miracle Grow. Very disappointed.

Terrible! Moisture control rots plants

I bought this moisturizer control soil last year and thought I over watered when I potted my plants. I had to replace more than a flat of impatiens because of rot. I never had this problem before with your regular potting soil. This year I have been very careful not to overwater! As I read the previous reviews prior to planting. I noticed yesterday that I’m having the same problem again. I just stirred the soil and it’s just packed and very wet. I’m going to lose plants again! FYI I planted 11 flats of flowers and vegetables for our garden and had great success with a different type of soil. Maybe this type of soil would be good for extremely hot and dry areas??? But not overall...I do not recommend!! I’m including photos of the plants with moisture control soil>rot and plants started with a different soil. I would conclude that it’s the soil! It retains to much moisture!

What Happened???

I have been buying miracle grow potting mic with moisture control for over 20 years. I take pride in my garden and annual pots and I wait all winter long for spring and planting and summer beauty. This spring I bought 40 bags as usual. I thought it looked different but used it anyway. Everything is dying. Plants are simply imploding. It’s like the mix is all peat moss and nothing else. Impossible to keep the correct moisture level. Not only have I wasted money on miracle gro mix but I have lost hundreds of dollars in annuals and totally blown my year of growing. What happened to your QA/QC?

Bought 2 large bags to use on my railing pots and my tomato plant. I really should have read the reviews as they are current, from last year and even 2 years ago. Pots that have geraniums in them, the leaves are dying. Marigolds are shriveled up. Tomato plant-I just dumped it because all of the tomatoes are rotten on the bottom...from watering being inconsistent. Isn't that the whole point of this product? Very very unhappy with this product. Some of the reviews go back 3 years, and it just astounds me that nothing has changed on the quality of this product. I should not have to water everyday. It states that the product protects against over and underwatering. Seriously???

Has the mixture been re-formulated?

As always, I purchased the Moisture Control 50 qt bag. However, this time, after opening the product, I discover it's completely cluttered up with foreign debris such as, large sticks, 2" rocks, and even a piece of metal wire. I used approx 1/4 of the package in hopes it would progressively get better. Unfortunately, the deeper I dug, the worse it became. Also, the mixture contained none of the small fertilizer plant food beads / spheres, or the small Styrofoam bits. These have always been present in every prior package which I've purchased. (I generally purchase 3-4 each year) Note: Photo of the pot contains remainder of the previous bag...(The Good stuff!) Regardless, I will continue to use this product, I love it! Although, I am curious, has the product recently been re-formulated?.....Please Advise..

Ruined my plants

I purchased 2 bags of this to re-pot all of the indoor plants I've had for ages and within a week I began to have a gnat infestation They took over my plants..... you could see them crawling in the soil and flying around all of the plants as they hatched. I have tried several remedies online and cannot get rid of these things. My poor plants!

Won’t buy again

I purchased this product in the spring. I have used this type of potting soil for many years and for the first time I feel it gave the plants I repotted mealy bugs. I realize they can be caused by overwatering but these were indoor plants I had for years and I didn’t do any differently that I did in previous years. It has been more than 25 years since I had an issue like this and to make matters worse I lost plants which were 10+ years I cannot replace.

Do gnat buy this!

I have trusted Miracle-Gro products for 50 years! But not this one - not ever again! Two huge bags of this potting mix to plant 4 indoor green plants (philodendron), and they were all soon infested with fungus gnats! The other dozen, yes a dozen (or more), indoor plants were gnat free. We tried not watering, sticky sticks to catch them (aplenty!), soapy, and other sprays - no luck. We moved them to the garage for a week and just today replanted them after soaking them down to the roots to rid them of any trace of this potting soil. What a disaster.
