I’m definitely what you’d call a beginner Gardner, and only on my first bag of MG moisture control potting soil. So for what it’s worth, here’s my experience so far: I’ve mostly used it for repotting a couple indoor plants and they’re still alive and growing. This soil does allow longer times between watering and that’s a good thing for me-I sometimes may forget to stay on a watering schedule! I haven’t noticed any gnats, mold or fungus on the soil when opening but in reading others’ experiences, I’ll keep an eye out as I bought a second bag and will soon be using it. All in all it’s so far so good!
Pros: Easy to Use, Quality, Effective

I bought this a month ago for my cannabis plants I grow for myself, I usually buy the ordinary miracle grow potting mix but cannabis can be picky when it comes to over & underwatering so I thought I'd give this product a try and I must say my plants are thriving in it so far in a month's time they are growing like they are supposed to and nice and green I like the fact that it drains off perfectly and for the vegatation stage they are in it has the right NPK values until I transplant them into their final large containers outside. I thought I'd mention that when I transplanted them into their medium sized containers I had no transplant shock at all they kept growing like nothing had happened to them, as sometimes when transplanting cannabis they will wilt for a day or two and stall on the growth but this soil mix didn't allow them to do that so I highly recommend this product and it's what I'll use from now on in the years to come so please DO NOT discontinue this potting mix

Nice idea but doesn't work

This year I used this product exclusively for my balcony and indoor pots. Plants looked like they needed water but pot felt heavy like it had already been watered. I even tried using ice cubes to ensure slow absorption. Lost several plants and while re-potting found that the soil was semi-moist but the plants weren't getting water. Water absorption beads hold water but doesn't release it to the plants. I love Miracle Grow but stay away from this product.

When this soil dries out, it can become naturally water-repellent due to the peat moss and organic materials that are an important part of the soil mixture. It's killing my potted plants!

This potting soil is wet in the bag! Curiosity about that fact at first, but used it anyway. Bad idea. I am going to re-pot and pray my plants will recover.
Cons: Didn't work as expected, Messy

Terminator for seedlings

Terrible bark mulch potting soil. I swear it must have cedar bark. Hundreds of seedlings were anemic and low or no growth yellowing as they leafed out.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Will not repurchase

I have used Miracle-Gro before, but the moisture control is not for me! It holds too much water and plants rot out within a month or two- especially after several rainfalls. the soil simply does not dry out. Plants don't stand a chance. I do not recommend this product.
