Bought this in July to repot houseplants, noticed that my plants stopped growing once potted in new soil. Also found lots of little tiny bugs in the soil. I will never buy miracle grow again. Seriously disappointed with this product and the devastation it has caused to my houseplant collection.
Cons: Didn't work as expected
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We are sorry to hear of the difficulties you encountered with Miracle-Gro Moisture Control Potting Mix. Insects could not survive the composting and packing process. However, it is possible for them to enter the bag during shipping and storage. You can apply about 1/2 inch of horticultural sand on top of the soil of potted plants. Larvae cannot burrow through the sand and will die. We want you to be confident in our products, this is why we offer a product guarantee. Average soil

I bought this soil about 3 months ago, and all of my plants are doing pretty good. I had a plant that I got from a nursery, with awful soil and it started dying so I used this soil and its healthy now. I try to rescue dying plants from the nursery and while using this soil, all of them have gotten better. Again, I've only had it for a few months so I hope my plants continue to grow better.
Pros: Easy to Use, Effective
I would recommend this to a friend!

Serious problem with your Potting mix

I have been using this product for nearly 7 to 8 years. But this time (June 2020), I bought three large bags (as always), after 2 months, lost 22 plants and nearly lost two mother plants. I removed and washed the roots off any potting soil and repotted with peat moss. Now the plants are reviving. You guys have a serious problem with your quality check.

Jerome, we are sorry that you are disappointed with your purchase of Miracle-Gro® Moisture Control® Potting Mix. We do not sterilize out growing media as microorganisms are an important component of growing media. The mold only becomes a problem if there is an overgrowth when the soil is too wet. The mold and fungus that grows on soils and mulch will not harm plants. Mold and fungus on growing media or mulch will go away with sunlight and air circulation. You may contact us if you would like to continue discussing this or if you want to know about our product guarantee. You may reach us at https://tinyurl.com/y9nlw5xl.

Killing my African Violet

I bought this soil a month ago because my African inlet needed to be repotted. Within a week it was losing leaves and now it starting to wilt. I had to do a repot again with another potting soil. This is a terrible soil for plants. I just hope I can save my violet (which I’ve had for a long time). I will never buy this soil again.

I do not recommend this product

This product is contaminated with fungus and I cannot get rid of the gnats. I have had some house plants for 16+ years and they are not doing well at all. I have repotted some twice to get rid of the gnats, washing roots, pots, and tossing away what I thought was contaminated soil. Not I know the Miracle Gro (moisture control) is the problem. I am very unhappy, I have never had this problem before.
Pros: Easy to Use
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We are sorry that you are disappointed with your purchase of Miracle Gro Moisture Control Potting Mix. Flying insects(also appear as "worms" in the soil) are likely fungus gnats. These insects do not harm humans and do little plant damage (they primarily feed on the fungus found naturally in soil). Possible ways to control fungus gnats include: Allowing the soil to dry out as much as possible between watering will help control the larvae. Applying at least 1/2 inch of horticultural sand on top of the soil of potted/container plants. Larvae cannot burrow through the sand and will die.Horticultural sand should be left on the container for several weeks, until the problem is solved. Sand does not have to be removed, but if you wish to remove it, dispose of it by recycling in a garden, landscape or lawn area. You can contact us if you would like to continue discussing this or if you want to know about our product guarantee. Doesn't do as claimed

I have bluetooth plant monitors & repotted my plants with this. I watered and then watered again. Soil fertility was low. Running between 217 and 360 uS/cm. 350 is considered too low. Moisture level was too low after watering. It ran 35-40 % which means the water and fertilizer are draining right thru without retention. Really disappointed in Miracle Grow claims. Won't buy myself or refer anyone to their products again.
Cons: Didn't work as expected
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
