Bag was moldy within 2 weeks

Two weeks after purchasing, I went to fill another pot and there was blue mold growing in the bag. I purchased it from an indoor warehouse and used and stored the soil indoors. It is damp, but not particularly wet, in the bag.

I bought cactus mix soil and had to replace soil in a week because of gnats. I bought moisture control this time. Let’s see. I don’t want to lose my hydrangea! Feel scared after reading reviews. Next time I’ll make soil mix of another brand .

Gnats!

Well I thought this would be good soil since I’ve had luck with other miracle grow soils before, but besides the issue of it never seeming to dry out at all which is eventually going to lead to root rot for plants, my house now has a fungus gnat issue since potting some of my indoor plants in this soil. I’m now trying to eradicate that problem before it gets out of control, and repot my plants in a different soil. This is costing me way more money now.

We are very sorry for the issues you encountered with Miracle-Gro Moisture Control Potting Mix. Insects could not survive the composting and packing process. However, it is possible for them to enter the bag during shipping and storage. You can apply about 1/2 inch of horticultural sand on top of the soil of potted plants. Larvae cannot burrow through the sand and will die. You can contact us if you would like to continue discussing this or if you want to know about our product guarantee. REPOTTED PLANTS WITHERING

so with the extra home time due to Co -Vid 19, I decided to treat my plants to a much needed repotting. Since I travel a lot I decided on the moisture control variety. After I repotted my very healthy house plants I kept expecting them to flourish. instead they are withering. I thought maybe the shock but I have given it time. This is very disappointing and I also now have a Gnat problem I did not before. UGH!!
Cons: Didn't work as expected

Horrible Product - Gnats, gel clumps

This is the worse product, not typical for MiracleGrow. It does not allow for roots to develop, the soil (???) clumps like gelatin , gnats and pricey! all indoor plants are dying, have to re-pot and hopefully roots are not rotted which will force to replace plants. Horrible product!!!
Cons: Didn't work as expected

I have been using this product for years no issues. After reading the reviews I realise the gnat problem may have been the miracle gro I used. They have taken over my house trying to get rid of them is problem. And I have to repot all my plants which is expensive and a back breaking nightmare. The 2019 crop of vegetables was ruined, full of holes. I always used miracle gro in the hole dug for planting vegetables and and all outdoor plants. So upset.
Pros: Easy to Use

What causes the rot , gnats, issues people have?
on May 21, 2020

I just potted my tomatoes, peppers and bush beans in posts using the moisture control mix. Do we know so many people are having issues? What can i do to avoid? Wondering now whether to repost using non-moisture control. Seemed like a good idea at the time. Thanks.
