Horrible potting soil.

I usually use this in my small greenhouse to start seedlings and potting soil for plants. Seeds either would not come up at all or turn into stunted plants. I have two bags that will be dumped out in my garden where hopefully I can dilute whatever is in this soil. The appearance is of ground wood that has not been composted well.
Cons: Didn't work as expected
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Fungus gnats galore

This used to be my favorite soil mix, but the last couple of years every time I buy Miracle Grow soil I get thousands of fungus gnats in my plants and they are impossible to control! I would NEVER recommend for indoor plants unless you want your home infested with fungus gnats!!

Seedlings infected with white mold

I wish I would have read the reviews before repotting 100+ seedlings and now all are infected with white mold in soil.

Not much soil more like sticks and twigs

I have always bought the miracle grow potting soil for my house plants. I bought 2 different times recently thinking that maybe i just got a bad bad. Where has happened to my favorite potting soil I will not be buying this product again after years. It is not cheap so I have basically wasted my money. The mulch and twigs are so many that the plants are getting damaged. Ridiculous. I would love a refund. So disappointed

Most of our soils, especially potting mixes and garden soils, are made of composted forest products and contain very little if any actual soil. Composted forest products provide high organic content and nutrients without the concern for soil compaction which often occurs with potting mixes composed primarily of actual topsoil. The coarser material allows for air to reach the roots of the plant which improves plant performance. While small pieces of bark and twigs are intentional components of our growing media, including potting soil, garden soil, lawn soil, topsoil, etc., you should not find large pieces of wood or bark.

Lost everything I planted with this product.

I buy Miracle Grow potting soil every year and this year I tried the moisture control. I have lost everything I planted in it. I’m so upset I spent a lot money and time to lose everything. I definitely do not recommend this product.

Fungus gnats and root rot

Horrible. Like many others here we immediately had a fungus gnat infestation, and the soil hardens on top while staying damp down below, leading to root rot. Killed most of my plants.

Something is changed and not for the good.

We have bought the same product year after year for all our potted plants and flower boxes this year. The product is not at all like it used to be very heavy with Pete Moss wood another strange pieces of material that almost look like fuzz. Really not What we expected doubtful we will purchase again.

Keeps plants perky and blooming!

This potting soil has been most helpful in keeping my window boxes pretty.
It stays soft and doesn't become rock hard like some of the cheaper potting soils I've tried in the past
If I forget to water or go away for a long weekend, I don't come home to a dead bunch of plants.
And since it has fertilizer in it, I don't need to add more right away.
