Unsterilized soil. Do not use indoors.

Because this is unsterilized soil, it has live fungus gnat eggs in it. I had repotted all my precious house plants as well as my office plants with this soil and started to notice black "fruit fly" like bugs on ALL my plants... Including the ones at the office. I tried letting them dry out, I tried the old soapy water trick, nothing worked. They are very resistant bugs. I cannot use chemicals at work due to an employee chemical sensitivity. And my boss would not appreciate me bringing sand to use to layer the soil to help kill the gnats- around office computers. Very frustrating.

Cons: Didn't work as expected, Problem with label, bugs in soil

I love using this moisture control soil in my containers. It really helps with the control and consistency of the moisture. I'm not loosing plants from forgetting to water or inconsistent watering. My garden always get comments and compliments! Thank You! for a great product!

killed my trees

I am a regular customer of Miracle Grow potting soil. I purchased the Moisture Control version because another customer at the store was giving it rave reviews.
I bought 5 bags to fill 5 large pots and I planted small Canadian Hemlock trees in them. The trees soon (within a few weeks) started to look really bad even though they were in the proper sun light. At first I thought they were in shock.
There is a risk of drowning trees in pots, but I have knowledge and experience. (Studied horticulture at OK State) When I felt the soil it was moist on top and an inch or so down.

I was planting another smaller pot. I moistened the soil well before placing the plants in. As I dug down into the pot I noticed pockets of completely dry soil. (this was a smaller pot and I had put plenty of water in)
I ask a Master Gardener friend of mine about it and she said she no longer uses Miracle Grow because the quality is not the same, the soil is mostly bark.
I have determined by my observation of the soil while potting another plant, my friends experience, and the confirmation of other reviews that my trees died because of lack of water. The soil is deceptive; looks feels moist, but does not maintain consistent moisture throughout the pot. I felt so bad for the little trees and I lost a great deal of gardening money.

Saves my container plants and window boxes

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love this product. I have window boxes that do spectacularly when I use moisture control potting soil. My flowers are always consistently watered according to their needs, and I can skip a few days watering I am away from home. Moisture control soil is very easy to work with and it gives great results. I have grown plants cascading down a large rock using this soil. I am very pleased with the results.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Miracle-Gro makes gardening easier with offering soil rich with nutrients that help plants and seeds grow strong and healthy. My biggest problem has been over watering my planters. With this moisture control blend, Miracle-Gro takes away any guess work. I've used this product for two years and haven't lost a plant to over watering. Thank you Miracle-Gro!
